The JCB 4TS Teleskid and 400T CTL address different farm needs: the 4TS is built around telescopic reach and elevated lifting, while the 400T emphasizes horsepower and high-flow attachment work. Neither is a universal upgrade over the other; the right choice depends on the loads, reach, attachments and operating conditions on your farm.
How the 4TS and 400T differ
| Decision point | JCB 4TS Teleskid | JCB 400T CTL |
|---|---|---|
| Primary distinction | Telescopic boom designed to extend lift height and reach. | Vertical-lift compact track loader aimed at heavy-duty loading and attachment work. |
| Reported specifications | Agriculture.com reported a 15-foot lift height, nearly 4,000 pounds rated operating capacity, 13,000 pounds SAE operating weight and 6-foot-10-inch overall height in 2025. JCB said at launch that the 4TS is nearly two feet higher than the 3TS. | Agriculture.com reported 12,544 pounds operating weight and hydraulic flow above 40 gallons per minute at 4,000 psi in 2025. JCB’s official product page, accessed October 8, 2026, lists a 4.4L engine rated at 109 hp and maximum hydraulic flow of 42 GPM. |
| Farm jobs described | Stacking, loading and handling materials, including working cattle and moving feed. | Clearing fence lines, brush-cutter work, moving feed and other demanding attachment or material-handling jobs. |
These are reported specifications and use examples, not results from a same-condition comparative test. The available sources do not establish that one model is more productive, safer or less costly to own across farms.
Where the 4TS Teleskid may fit
The 4TS’s defining feature is its telescopic boom. Its reported 15-foot lift height and nearly 4,000-pound rated operating capacity may be relevant when a job requires placing or retrieving material at height, stacking, loading, or reaching into a work area. Agriculture.com also names working cattle and moving feed among farm uses.
JCB product manager Lee Tice described it as a machine that “bridges the gap between compact and capability.” That is JCB’s characterization, not an independent performance finding. JCB’s launch announcement also says the 4TS is nearly two feet higher than the 3TS; the 6-foot-10-inch overall height reported by Agriculture.com makes transport and access clearance worth checking against the actual route and configuration.

Where the 400T CTL may fit
The 400T is the more directly relevant option when the central need is a powerful loader and demanding hydraulic attachments. JCB lists a 109-hp, 4.4L engine and maximum hydraulic flow of 42 GPM on its official product page. Agriculture.com separately reports flow above 40 GPM at 4,000 psi. Because these figures come from different source contexts, confirm the flow and pressure available on the specific machine and options being quoted.
Agriculture.com associates the 400T with brush cutters, fence-line clearing, feed work and heavy material handling. These are examples of intended applications, not measured productivity guarantees. JCB says the machine uses an industry-standard quick hitch and can couple to JCB and other brands’ attachments, but that does not establish that every attachment will fit or operate correctly.

Operator access and safety claims
Agriculture.com reports that both models have a side-entry door and that the 4TS uses a single-arm design. JCB says this layout avoids climbing over or under front-mounted attachments. Tice told Agriculture.com, “It’s different for a reason, and that reason is safety,” a company representative’s explanation rather than an independent safety-study conclusion.

- For a 4TS: What is the rated capacity for the exact machine, attachment and operating conditions? What lift height and reach will the job require, and will the machine clear buildings, gates and transport routes?
- For a 400T: What hydraulic flow and pressure are available on the quoted configuration? Does that meet the attachment manufacturer’s requirements?
- For either model: Is the attachment compatible with the coupler, hydraulic connections and machine configuration? What are the operating weight and clearance dimensions for the delivered setup?
- For the purchase decision: What is the current local price, availability and financing offer? Agriculture.com reported North American JCB dealership availability, but local inventory and terms should be confirmed directly.
JCB’s 400T page displayed a starting price of $99,890 and a 1.99% financing offer for up to 48 months, but the page said the offer was valid through September 30, 2026. That date has passed; treat the terms as expired unless a dealer confirms a replacement offer.
