How much did Jamf pay for Identity Automation?
Jamf’s March 3, 2025 announcement put the cash consideration at approximately $215 million, subject to customary purchase-price adjustments. The SEC-filed agreement specified that $40 million was deferred until October 1, 2025. Jamf’s later filing reported $176.1 million paid at closing and total purchase consideration of $216.1 million after the deferred payment. The announcement figure and the later accounting total describe different stages and should not be treated as contradictory prices.

The agreement also provided for at least $10 million in restricted stock units for continuing Identity Automation employees after closing. Those units were separate from the cash consideration. Jamf’s SEC-filed purchase agreement sets out the deferred cash payment and employee awards; the later SEC filing for the quarter ended September 30, 2025 reports the total consideration and closing payment.
When did Jamf complete the acquisition?
Jamf announced the definitive agreement on March 3, 2025, saying it expected the transaction to close by the end of fiscal second-quarter 2025, subject to customary conditions. It announced completion on April 1, 2025. The expected timetable was not the actual closing date. Jamf said the acquisition brought almost 90 employees into the company. The announcement and the completion release provide the timeline.

What does Identity Automation do?
Identity Automation provides identity and access management technology. In its acquisition announcement, Jamf described the platform as dynamically adjusting access, device and security policies in response to schedules, locations and role changes. That is intended to connect a person’s changing role with the devices and applications they can use.
Jamf highlighted education and healthcare as relevant sectors because roles and access can change frequently. Its announcement also named integrations or related systems including Okta, Clever, ClassLink, Microsoft Active Directory and Google’s cloud applications. The announcement does not establish that every integration is available in every deployment or that its form has remained unchanged; organizations should confirm current compatibility and deployment requirements with product documentation.

Why did Jamf acquire Identity Automation?
Jamf’s stated strategic rationale was to bring identity and device access together in its platform. The acquisition added dynamic identity and access management capabilities to a business focused on Apple device management and security. The proposed benefit was tighter alignment between identity changes and device or application policies, particularly for organizations where people move between roles, locations or schedules.

What changed in Jamf’s ownership afterward?
A January 30, 2026 SEC-filed release reported that Francisco Partners had completed its acquisition of Jamf for $13.05 per share in cash, at an approximately $2.2 billion enterprise value. That is later ownership context, separate from Jamf’s 2025 purchase of Identity Automation. The cited release establishes the position on that date; it does not establish whether ownership changed again afterward. See the SEC-filed release.
