Jake Paul publicly offered Mike Tyson an extra $5 million if Tyson lasted more than four rounds in their planned November 2024 fight. The catch: if Tyson did not, Paul said he would have to get a tattoo reading “I love Jake Paul.” The bout later went eight rounds, and Paul won by unanimous decision—but public reporting does not establish that the proposed side bet was formally accepted, paid, or settled.
What was Jake Paul’s $5 million offer to Mike Tyson?
On October 8, 2024, Paul proposed the deal in a video shared through the TikTok account for his gambling site, Betr. LADbible reproduced his wording: “Mikey, Mikey, if you can last more than four rounds with me, I’ll give you an extra $5million. But, if you don’t, then you have to get a tattoo that says ‘I love Jake Paul’. Deal or no deal?” LADbible reported the offer and its date; CBS News also described the proposal.
The $5 million was framed as an additional bonus for lasting beyond four rounds, not as Tyson’s full fight purse. CBS News noted that the promoters had not disclosed Tyson’s exact purse; reported purse estimates are separate from Paul’s proposed bonus.
What was the catch?
If Tyson failed to last more than four rounds, Paul said Tyson would have to get a tattoo saying “I love Jake Paul.” That was the stated forfeit, not a cash repayment or an established deduction from Tyson’s purse.

Did Tyson accept, and was the offer binding?
The public reporting does not establish that Tyson accepted the proposal or that the men signed a separate contract. CBS News said Tyson and his camp had not publicly responded at the time of its report. Sports Illustrated later quoted Tyson saying, “He should offer more,” but that remark does not by itself confirm acceptance or formal terms. Sports Illustrated reported Tyson’s response.
Without evidence of a signed agreement or confirmation from the parties, it is not possible to say that the proposal was legally binding. The available reports also do not document payment of the proposed $5 million or Tyson getting the tattoo.

What happened in the fight?
The fight took place on November 15, 2024, in Arlington, Texas. It lasted eight rounds, so Tyson met the public proposal’s condition of lasting more than four rounds. Paul won by unanimous decision. The Associated Press reported the result and event context, including that it was Tyson’s first sanctioned professional fight since 2005; the bout had first been scheduled for July and was postponed after Tyson was treated for a stomach ulcer. The Associated Press reported the fight result and context.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How large was the event?
The proposed bonus was one piece of a much larger event, but it should not be confused with gate receipts or reported purse figures. The Associated Press estimated attendance at 72,000 and reported nearly $18 million in gate receipts, which it described as a Texas combat-sports record attributed to organizers. Those figures describe the event, not the side bet.
