The application window for ITBP’s Assistant Commandant (Engineer), ITBPF-2026 recruitment closed on May 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The notice specified online-only applications. To check for a later recruitment notice, start at ITBP’s official Career page, which links to the recruitment portal.
Is the ITBP Assistant Commandant application still open?
No. The ITBP Assistant Commandant (Engineer) 2026 notice listed an application period from 12:01 a.m. on April 21, 2026, to 11:59 p.m. on May 20, 2026. That deadline has passed as of October 8, 2026. The notice described six vacancies and said: “No other mode for submission of application is allowed.” The notice PDF available for these details is hosted on a third-party mirror, not ITBP’s official recruitment portal; check the official site for any corrections or later notices.
Where to check for a newer ITBP recruitment notice
- Open ITBP’s official Career page.
- Follow its link to the ITBP recruitment website at recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in.
- Look for a current notice for the post you want, then confirm its dates and instructions on the recruitment website before applying. ITBP’s help page advises candidates to enroll on that website and apply for a post matching their eligibility and preference.
Do not rely on an old application link or assume the 2026 window has reopened. If a later notice is posted, follow that notice’s live application link and instructions.
ITBP Engineer recruitment and UPSC CAPF are different routes
“Assistant Commandant” can refer to two distinct recruitment processes. The direct ITBP notice was specifically for Assistant Commandant (Engineer). The UPSC Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination is a separate examination that includes ITBP among participating forces.
| Route | Recruiting authority and post | Vacancies stated | Application channel |
|---|---|---|---|
| ITBP direct recruitment | ITBP Assistant Commandant (Engineer), ITBPF-2026 notice | 6 Engineer posts | ITBP recruitment website; the notice says applications are online only |
| CAPF Assistant Commandants Examination, 2026 | UPSC examination for Assistant Commandants across participating forces, including ITBP | 12 tentative ITBP vacancies within 349 total CAPF vacancies | UPSC online application |
The UPSC notice listed a written examination date of July 19, 2026, which has also passed as of October 8, 2026. The 12 tentative ITBP vacancies belong to the separate CAPF examination notice; they are not additional vacancies in ITBP’s six-post Engineer recruitment. Check UPSC’s official notices for current CAPF information rather than using an archived notice as an application invitation.
