If a text says you owe a Good To Go! toll and urges you to pay through its link, do not click or pay there. Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) says it does not send toll bills or request toll payment by text. To check whether you really owe, go to MyGoodToGo.com yourself or call Good To Go! at 1-866-936-8246.
What WSDOT warned about
In a March 19, 2025 alert, WSDOT said scammers were impersonating toll agencies and sending messages that appeared to come from Good To Go!. The texts claimed recipients had an unpaid toll and linked to convincing fake payment pages designed to collect payment and banking information. Some used threats of legal action or penalties to pressure people into acting quickly.
WSDOT’s warning was explicit: “Good To Go! never sends texts asking for payment.” It also said customers should not pay on websites other than Good To Go!. A text demanding payment through its own link is not WSDOT’s bill-payment process.
How to check whether you really owe a toll
- Do not open the text link or enter information. Do not provide card numbers, bank details, account credentials, or other personal information on the page it opens.
- Open the official account independently. Type MyGoodToGo.com into your browser or use the account app or site you normally use. WSDOT says information it sends about a toll bill will also be visible in the account.
- Call if you cannot find a bill. Contact Good To Go! customer service at 1-866-936-8246. WSDOT says that if you expected a bill but did not receive it or have misplaced it, customer service can provide a statement ID and help locate it. The agency says it would not text someone without an account about a toll bill.
- Report the message. You can file a report with the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Include the sender’s phone number or email address and the website shown in the text.
Legitimate account texts are different from bill-payment texts
Good To Go! does have an opted-in text-notification service. WSDOT’s SMS terms describe low-balance alerts, monthly statement notifications, and payment reminders; its current toll information identifies 75381 as the sender number for its own texts. Those notifications do not make a text-link payment request safe. Verify any account or payment issue by signing in directly, not by following a link in an unsolicited message.

Use official channels for a verified bill
If your account or customer service confirms that you owe a toll, use the official account or another payment route WSDOT identifies. WSDOT discourages third-party bill-payment services and apps because they may add fees, delay payment, and make it harder for the agency to help resolve a payment problem.
WSDOT’s current account guidance says a $5 late fee may apply if a bill is not paid by its due date. It also says an unpaid toll still outstanding 80 days after travel may receive a $40 civil penalty per unpaid toll, and that the Department of Licensing may place a vehicle-registration hold if the penalty remains unpaid for 20 days. Check your bill and WSDOT’s current guidance for the rules that apply to your account.

Why a real toll bill may arrive by mail
WSDOT distinguishes a mailed toll bill from a text asking for payment. Its Toll Division reported mailing 1,265,947 toll bills to customers without Good To Go! accounts in FY 2025. The same report recorded 256,850 SMS notifications and said WSDOT was working to secure a five-digit SMS profile in response to a high volume of scam texts. The report does not establish whether that sender-profile change has since been implemented, so a familiar-looking sender alone is not proof a payment link is genuine.
A Good To Go! account works on every Washington toll road, and WSDOT says drivers with a pass save $2 on each trip compared with paying by mail. That is general toll-payment information, not a way to authenticate a suspicious message: check the account directly whenever a text claims you owe.
