Re:

Is the Pixel 8 Really $5 a Month? Bell and Freedom’s Canadian Offers

Bell and Freedom listed a pre-owned Pixel 8 for $5 a month, but the payment is only one part of a two-year commitment. Compare the plan, fees and device terms before signing.

As of October 4, 2026, Bell and Freedom Mobile each listed a previously owned Pixel 8 for $5 per month in Canada. That is the device payment—not the full monthly bill—and each offer is tied to a two-year arrangement and an eligible plan. The offers may change, and the listings do not establish availability in every province or for every customer.

Which Canadian carriers list the Pixel 8 for $5 a month?

Bell’s listing shows a Certified Pre-owned Pixel 8 at $5 per month for 24 months, with $0 down and 0% APR. It requires an eligible two-year rate plan. Bell lists the full device price as $496.65 and a one-time $40 device handling charge; taxes are extra. Bell’s device listing and its Pixel 8 product terms provide the offer details.

Freedom Mobile lists a Like-New CPO Pixel 8 for $5 per month with MyTab, from $0 upfront, alongside a $45 monthly plan. A two-year term is required. Freedom’s general terms say taxes, government fees and pay-per-use charges are extra, and that offers may change or be cancelled. See Freedom’s device listing and plan terms.

These are two verified carrier listings, not evidence that every Canadian carrier offers the same deal. Neither listing describes a new Pixel 8: Bell identifies its device as Certified Pre-owned and Freedom as Like-New CPO.

What does the $5 monthly payment actually cost?

Compare the phone payment separately from the wireless plan. Bell’s $5 device instalment over 24 months totals $120 in instalments, but the listing also gives a $496.65 full device price and a $40 one-time handling charge. The available terms do not explain how the difference between the instalment total and full price is treated in every circumstance, so ask Bell for a written breakdown of the device balance, any credits or discounts, and what you would owe if the agreement ends early.

Freedom’s $5 MyTab payment is paired with a listed $45 monthly plan. The plan price is not the complete bill: applicable taxes, government fees and pay-per-use charges may add to it. Bell likewise says taxes are extra, and its $40 handling charge is a separate one-time cost.

Before accepting either offer, request the full monthly estimate and the total commitment over 24 months, including the eligible plan, device payments, upfront or handling charges, taxes and fees. Confirm whether any plan-price condition, discount, return or buyout term applies; the cited listings do not establish identical terms for both carriers.

What condition, warranty and cancellation terms should you check?

Bell’s Certified Pre-owned listing

Bell says its Certified Pre-owned devices are previously owned and in full working order after a 10-point check by a qualified technician. The listing says a charging cable is included and that all Certified Pre-owned devices come with a one-year Bell warranty. These are Bell’s stated terms, not an independent assessment of the phone’s condition.

Bell says ending the SmartPay or service agreement early, or switching to a non-eligible rate plan, can make the remaining device instalments due immediately. It calculates those instalments using the pre-discount monthly amount. Early service-cancellation fees may also apply, subject to the Wireless Code. Ask Bell to show how those terms would apply to your account before signing.

Freedom’s Like-New CPO listing

Freedom’s retrieved listing identifies the phone as Like-New CPO, but it does not establish inspection standards, warranty coverage or included accessories. Do not assume Bell’s 10-point check, cable or one-year warranty applies. Ask Freedom to confirm the device grade, warranty, included items and the exact amount payable if you cancel or change plans before the term ends.

How to decide whether the deal fits your budget

  • Check the plan you must keep. Compare its price and included service with what you would choose without the phone offer. A low device payment does not make a plan affordable if it costs more than the service you need.
  • Calculate the full two-year commitment. Add the plan charges, device payments, one-time fees, taxes and likely usage charges. Use the carrier’s written estimate rather than treating $5 as the cost of the phone-and-service package.
  • Get the device terms in writing. Confirm storage, condition grade, warranty, included accessories, device balance and any return or buyout requirement. The retrieved listings do not establish that every comparison point is the same between carriers.
  • Check availability and eligibility where you will buy. Confirm local stock and whether your province, account and chosen rate plan qualify. The offers were visible on official pages checked October 4, 2026; prices and inventory can change.
  • Consider the cost of leaving early. If you may change carriers or plans during the two-year term, ask for the exact payoff and any service-cancellation charges before committing.

For context, Rogers has a general support page about device pricing tiers and financing, but it does not verify a current Rogers Pixel 8 offer at $5 per month: Rogers’ device-financing explanation.
