Compare like with like: the M4 or M4 Pro chip, unified memory, SSD capacity and Ethernet option all affect what you are buying. A low price on a 256GB model is not directly comparable to a higher-capacity configuration. Before checkout, confirm the selected configuration and check the live price, seller and availability; a search result or an old deal story cannot establish those details.

M4 versus M4 Pro: which configuration fits?
Apple’s 2024 Mac mini starts with an M4 chip featuring a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. The M4 Pro starts at a 12-core CPU and 16-core GPU. The Pro is the higher-performance tier; whether its added capacity is worthwhile depends on your workload and the connections you need.

The M4’s Ethernet can be configured to 10Gb Ethernet. Display support varies by chip, connection and display combination; Apple provides the supported resolution and display-count details in its Mac mini (2024) technical specifications. Confirm your monitor setup there before choosing a model. Apple announced the 2024 mini on October 29, 2024, describing its footprint as five inches by five inches and distinguishing M4’s Thunderbolt 4 from M4 Pro’s Thunderbolt 5.
