What “AI-powered” means on the Fire HD 8
Amazon announced three AI experiences for compatible Fire tablets alongside the 2024 Fire HD 8 refresh. They are software features, not a separate AI-branded hardware model or evidence of a dedicated AI chip. Amazon has not established that every feature runs locally or that all three share the same regional and language availability.

- Writing Assist: Keyboard-integrated help to revise writing, including changes to tone, grammar and spelling.
- Webpage Summaries: Summaries of web content viewed in Amazon’s Silk browser.
- Wallpaper Creator: Generates wallpaper images from a text description.
Writing Assist has specific eligibility requirements in Amazon’s support documentation: the tablet must run Fire OS 8, the keyboard language must be English (United States), and the user must be in the US with the tablet registered to an Amazon.com account. Those conditions are for Writing Assist; they should not be assumed to describe the availability of the other tools.

Amazon’s specifications distinguish the models by both memory and built-in storage:

Amazon described the refreshed lineup as having “50% more RAM” than the previous lineup. That is Amazon’s lineup-level comparison, not a statement that every new configuration has 50% more memory than every older model. The product announcement does not provide an independent performance benchmark.
What else does the Fire HD 8 offer?
- Screen: 8-inch, 1280 × 800 IPS display.
- Expandable storage: microSD expansion up to 1TB; the card is sold separately. Check the current product listing for card compatibility before choosing one.
- Battery: Up to 13 hours, according to Amazon’s manufacturer-stated maximum—not an independently measured result.
- Rear camera: 5MP.
For the 64GB model referenced in the sale coverage, Amazon’s current product page is the place to confirm the selected capacity and live terms: Fire HD 8 (2024, 12th generation).

Is the Fire HD 8 on sale for Prime Big Deal Days?
Android Central’s early October 2026 deal coverage listed the Fire HD 8 64GB at $79.99, compared with $129.99. Tom’s Guide reported Prime Big Deal Days for October 6–7, 2026, and Amazon Business also described the event as taking place on those dates. These are dated reports, not confirmation that the offer remains live, is available to every customer or applies to every configuration.
Before placing an order, check the Amazon listing for the price at checkout, whether Prime membership is required, the selected storage capacity, any ads/no-ads variant and the offer’s end time. Amazon’s October 2024 announcement said the tablet started at $99.99 at launch; that historical launch price should not be treated as its current regular price.

Regional launch prices are not directly comparable with the US deal report. Amazon UK’s October 2024 launch page listed £99.99 for 3GB/32GB and £124.99 for 4GB/64GB; those are historical UK prices, not current US prices.

Choose 32GB if
You want the lower-capacity configuration and expect to rely on streaming or a separately purchased microSD card for extra local storage. It has 3GB of RAM.

Choose 64GB if
You want more built-in storage and the additional RAM: this configuration has 4GB. It is also the version named in the October 2026 sale report, though the reported price needs to be checked against the live listing.
Consider a Kids model for a child
Amazon positions Fire HD 8 Kids for ages 3–7 and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro for ages 6–12. Compare the current listing’s case, Kids+ subscription term, warranty and price rather than assuming they match another marketplace or an earlier bundle. Amazon UK’s October 2024 launch page described a two-year worry-free guarantee; that historical UK detail does not establish the current US bundle terms.
