Short answer: Sprint Complete historically bundled insurance for events such as loss, theft, and accidental damage with a separate service contract for certain hardware repairs. Sprint-branded notice says its current Sprint Complete insurance policy was cancelled effective November 1, 2021. If you still have a Sprint account or see a related charge, check your account and plan documents rather than assuming coverage remains active.
What did Sprint Complete cover?
Sprint Complete was a bundle, not a single warranty. A historical brochure describes it as combining three components: an insurance Equipment Replacement Program (ERP), a service-contract Equipment Service and Repair Program (ESRP), and, in tiers 2–5, Tech Expert support. The brochure says details varied by device, tier, state, and brochure version, so its description does not establish the terms of any individual customer’s plan. Asurion describes Sprint Complete as powered by Asurion; that historical provider relationship does not show that a new Sprint Complete policy is available.
In practical terms, the insurance component addressed covered events such as loss, theft, and accidental damage, while the separate service contract addressed certain hardware service and repair issues. The exact coverage, fees, limits, and exclusions depended on the policy and device-specific terms.
Is Sprint Complete still available?
A Sprint-branded notice hosted by a third party states: “Effective November 1, 2021, we’ll cancel the current insurance policy under the Sprint Complete¹ program and we’ll no longer bill for Sprint Complete from that time.” That date applies to the policy described in the notice; it does not determine whether an individual account has a separate or grandfathered arrangement. If you think you still have coverage, review your account and current plan documents or contact the provider shown there.

The historical brochure is not a current offer, and current T-Mobile terms should not be treated as the terms of a legacy Sprint plan.
How is insurance different from a phone warranty?
A manufacturer warranty generally covers qualifying defects, not accidents or disappearance. T-Mobile’s warranty support page lists electrical and mechanical issues due to defects and excludes physical damage such as a cracked screen. It says OEM warranties are typically 12 months; that is a general statement, not a guarantee for every device or brand.

Insurance and related protection plans may cover events a warranty does not, but they can include deductibles or service fees, limits, and exclusions. A plan that combines insurance with a service contract may therefore cover different problems under different terms.
What does T-Mobile Protection 360 cover now?
T-Mobile’s current Protection 360 page describes insurance coverage for accidental damage, loss, and theft, alongside a separate service-contract component for hardware service issues and other bundled benefits. This is current T-Mobile plan information, not evidence that a legacy Sprint Complete plan has the same terms.

- Other accidental damage: The page says a service fee based on device tier applies.
- Screen-lens-protector replacement: The described benefit requires an eligible protector purchased from T-Mobile and continued enrollment. A protector purchased elsewhere, including from Amazon, should not be assumed to qualify.
Eligibility, charges, exclusions, and limits depend on the applicable plan documents. Check those documents for your device and enrollment, rather than relying on the summary page alone.

There is no universal break-even point. The answer depends on your device, plan price and terms, likely ownership period, and the risks you want covered. T-Mobile’s general explainer, published June 30, 2026, recommends considering device value, risk, repair speed, convenience, and claim limits. Use the following calculation as a decision aid, not a prediction that a plan will save money:

- Add the premiums for the months you expect to keep coverage.
- Add the deductible or service fee that would apply to the kind of claim you are considering.
- Compare that total with a realistic repair or replacement cost, while also accounting for the value you place on faster or more convenient service.
- Check whether a manufacturer warranty, credit-card benefit, or another policy already covers any of the same events.
- Read the plan terms for exclusions, claim limits, cancellation rules, and the repair or replacement process.
Coverage may be more appealing if your phone is costly to replace, you face a higher risk of loss or damage, or convenient repair and replacement matter to you. It may be less appealing if the phone’s current replacement value is modest, premiums add up, a relevant deductible or service fee is high, or other coverage overlaps. These are trade-offs to assess against your own terms—not a guarantee that insurance will or will not pay off.

What to verify before relying on coverage
- The exact policy or service contract attached to your account, including whether it is active.
- Which events are covered: accidental damage, loss, theft, or hardware failure may fall under different plan components.
- Your device-specific premium, deductible or service fee, claim limits, and exclusions.
- Whether a repair, replacement, or another remedy applies to the claim you might file.
- Whether another warranty or protection benefit already applies.
