ModRetro, the company behind the Chromatic retro handheld, is reportedly seeking investment—but the available reporting does not confirm that it is currently in talks with potential investors. An Eneba Hub article, updated June 16, 2026, says Palmer Luckey was seeking about $1 billion and names Lux Capital and Founders Fund as possible participants. That is secondary reporting, not confirmation from ModRetro or any investor.
What is reported about ModRetro’s fundraising?
Eneba Hub reported on March 9, 2026, and updated its article on June 16, 2026, that Luckey was seeking roughly $1 billion for ModRetro. The article also discussed the possibility that Lux Capital and Founders Fund—both described there as existing Anduril investors—could contribute. Read Eneba Hub’s report.
Those claims should be kept distinct: a reported fundraising target and speculation about prospective participants do not establish that investor talks are underway, who is participating, or whether a financing has closed. The reviewed material contains no direct statement from ModRetro or a named investor confirming negotiations, an amount, or a deal stage. The specific headline claim therefore remains unverified.
Who is ModRetro, and what does it make?
ModRetro is associated with Palmer Luckey, who is also associated with defense contractor Anduril. Its best-known product in the coverage reviewed is the Chromatic, a handheld designed to play Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges. Product coverage of the Chromatic.

What this means for potential buyers
