Maybe—but a falling share price alone is not a reason to buy. NVIDIA’s latest reported results show exceptionally fast growth, while its supply constraints, customer concentration and China exposure create meaningful risks. Whether NVDA is attractive depends on the share price and the earnings or cash flow investors expect that price to represent. The available figures do not establish a current, timestamped valuation, so they cannot support a specific buy price or a definitive buy recommendation.
What NVIDIA’s latest results say about the business
In its August 26, 2026 earnings release, NVIDIA reported results for fiscal Q2 2027, the quarter ended July 26, 2026. These are realized company results, not estimates of future stock returns.
| Fiscal period | Measure | Reported figure or outlook |
|---|---|---|
| Q2 2027, ended July 26, 2026 | Revenue | $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year and 18% from the prior quarter |
| Q2 2027 | Data Center revenue | $89.0 billion, up 117% year over year |
| Q2 2027 | GAAP gross margin | 75.0% |
| Q2 2027 | Diluted EPS | $2.46 GAAP; $2.22 non-GAAP |
| Q3 2027 guidance | Revenue | $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2% |
| Q3 2027 guidance | Gross margin | 74.0%, plus or minus 50 basis points |
The Q3 figures are management guidance, not actual results. NVIDIA said its outlook did not assume Data Center compute revenue from China. A strong quarter and a rising forecast can support a growth case for the business, but neither determines what investors should pay for its shares.
Why the dip cannot be judged without a valuation
A share price decline tells you how the market price changed; it does not tell you whether the stock is cheap relative to future business results. A stock can fall and remain expensive if expected earnings or cash flow do not justify its price. It can also fall while its long-term prospects remain strong. The relevant question is what the price implies about future performance.

No timestamp-matched NVDA share price, market capitalization, forward earnings estimate or valuation multiple is established here. Without those inputs, calling the shares “on sale,” naming a fair value, or comparing NVDA’s valuation with peers would create false precision.
What to check at the price you are considering
- Record the quote and its timestamp. Use a current quote, and distinguish the market price from delayed data or an after-hours price.
- Choose a consistent financial measure. For example, compare the share price or market capitalization with an earnings or cash-flow estimate for a clearly stated period. Do not mix trailing results with a forward valuation without labeling the difference.
- Test more than one outlook. Consider what happens if revenue growth slows, gross margins decline, customers delay spending, or supply limits shipments. Compare those cases with a scenario in which demand and execution remain strong.
- Decide what return you require. A fast-growing company can still be a poor investment at a price that already assumes unusually strong growth. The required return depends on your time horizon and tolerance for volatility.
Refresh the inputs when you make the decision: share prices and expectations can change faster than quarterly reports.

What could support buying—and what could undermine the case
The growth case
The latest reported quarter showed that NVIDIA was converting demand into substantial revenue: total revenue rose 106% year over year, while Data Center revenue rose 117%. The company also guided to $108.0 billion in fiscal Q3 2027 revenue, plus or minus 2%. Those figures support the view that the business had strong momentum at the time of the report, but do not guarantee that the pace will continue or that the stock price will reward shareholders.
In the August 26, 2026 earnings release, CEO Jensen Huang said, “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue.” That is management’s characterization of AI demand and economics, not independent proof that NVDA is attractively valued.

Customer concentration and demand uncertainty
NVIDIA’s SEC-filed fiscal Q2 2027 Form 10-Q reported that one direct customer accounted for 16% of Q2 revenue. Three direct customers accounted for 16%, 15% and 13% of first-half revenue, respectively. The filing also says revenue is concentrated among a limited number of direct and indirect customers, and that this pattern may continue. Large customers’ spending plans therefore matter to NVIDIA’s results. The company notes that some revenue from indirect customers is estimated from multiple factors rather than directly observed.
Supply, execution and product transitions
The same filing describes supply constraints and increased supply and capacity commitments. It warns that inaccurate demand estimates could cause revenue or supply volatility. Demand does not automatically become shipments, revenue or sustained margins if production capacity, components or customer timing do not line up.

NVIDIA said its next-generation Vera Rubin architecture began production shipments in fiscal Q3 2027, while Blackwell still accounted for most system shipments in the reported quarter. A product transition can create execution demands even when customer interest is high. In its August 2026 earnings-call remarks, management also characterized its expected fiscal 2028 revenue growth of approximately 70% as supply-constrained. That is management’s outlook, not a realized result or an independent forecast.
China policy and ecosystem spending
NVIDIA’s Q3 outlook assumed no Data Center compute revenue from China. Its SEC filing also discusses limits on China sales and inventory or purchase-obligation charges. Changes in export rules or product availability can therefore affect expectations; investors should not treat potential China sales as assured upside.

The wider buildout also depends on customers and other participants committing capital. NVIDIA’s filing describes obligations and customer-support arrangements, while management’s call remarks address industry investment and supply constraints. Those commitments and projections are not guarantees that customers will keep spending at the same pace. Competition, heavy capital requirements across the ecosystem, and normalization in growth or margins are additional ways actual results could fall short of a bullish scenario.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical decision rule for buying NVDA after a drop
Separate the investment decision into two questions: whether NVIDIA’s business outlook fits your thesis, and whether the current price offers an acceptable prospective return for that thesis. The operating data above can help frame the first; they cannot answer the second without a current price and valuation assumptions.
- A dip may merit further analysis if your valuation work still supports an acceptable return under reasonable, not just best-case, growth and margin assumptions.
- Wait or pass if your case depends on sustained extraordinary growth, flawless supply execution, or customer spending continuing without interruption, and the price does not compensate you for those risks.
- Size the position for volatility. A concentrated, rapidly growing business can experience sharp share-price swings. Consider whether a loss or prolonged decline would disrupt your broader financial plan.
- Use a consistent comparison if you are choosing between NVDA and another investment: compare valuation, expected growth, concentration and geopolitical risks using the same date and method.
Based on the available operating evidence, NVIDIA’s business momentum was strong, but the evidence does not establish that its shares were undervalued at any particular price. A buy-the-dip decision is therefore price-dependent rather than an automatic response to a decline.
