Not yet. On October 6, 2026, Nvidia was valued at about $5.8 trillion at the close, still below $6 trillion. That puts the milestone roughly 3% to 4% away, depending on the market timestamp and share-count basis. It is a dated snapshot, not a prediction about when—or whether—the company will cross the threshold.

How close is Nvidia to $6 trillion?

Axios reported Nvidia closed at a market capitalization of approximately $5.8 trillion on October 6, 2026. Bloomberg’s report described it as just shy of $5.8 trillion. Because one figure is an approximate closing value and the other describes a level around that time, they should not be treated as identical live quotes. Both place Nvidia below $6 trillion. Bloomberg reporting republished by Yahoo Finance and Axios’s October 6 report provide the dated context.

At roughly $5.8 trillion, the remaining gap is about $200 billion. Relative to $5.8 trillion, that is around 3.4%; the precise percentage varies with the underlying valuation figure.

What share price would put Nvidia at $6 trillion?

Nvidia’s Form 10-Q reported 24.1 billion common shares outstanding as of August 21, 2026. Dividing $6 trillion by that share count gives an approximate threshold of $249 per share:

  • A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis

$6 trillion ÷ 24.1 billion shares ≈ $249 per share

This is a simple market-cap calculation, not a price target or forecast. The share count can change, and market capitalization changes as the share price moves. Market cap is the value of a company’s outstanding shares at a particular price; it is not the same thing as cash, revenue, or the company’s operating profit. Nvidia’s SEC Form 10-Q supplies the dated share-count figure.

What supports the growth case—and what does not?

Strong reported results

Nvidia’s fiscal second quarter of 2027, which ended July 26, 2026, produced $96.2 billion in revenue, up 106% from the same quarter a year earlier. Data Center revenue was $89.0 billion, and GAAP diluted earnings per share were $2.46. These are historical results, not a promise that the same growth rate will continue or that the stock will rise. The company published the results on August 26, 2026, in its fiscal Q2 2027 earnings release.

Rally catalysts and market risks

Bloomberg reported that Nvidia had added about $1.2 trillion in market capitalization during its 2026 rally, citing a strong revenue outlook and a new $150 billion share-repurchase authorization among factors supporting the advance. A buyback authorization is permission to repurchase shares, not a guarantee that the full amount will be spent; it also does not by itself establish future share-price performance.

Axios highlighted rising interest rates and the concentration of market gains among a small group of large AI-related companies. Nvidia’s future valuation also depends on factors such as AI demand, competition, margins, customer spending, export conditions, and the valuation investors assign to future earnings. Strong results can support the case for growth, but a high valuation can also leave the stock sensitive to changing expectations.

So, is Nvidia about to reach $6 trillion?

Nvidia was close, but had not reached $6 trillion in the October 6, 2026 market snapshot. The company would cross the threshold if its share price and share count together produced a market value of at least $6 trillion. The available dated figures show how close it was; they do not establish whether or when the milestone will happen.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in the August 26 earnings release, “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue.” That is management’s view of the opportunity, not an independent guarantee of future growth or investment returns.
