Is Netflix raising prices again?
There are two distinct changes behind the headline. Netflix’s January 21, 2025 Q4 2024 earnings letter reported the U.S. price change alongside its record subscriber quarter and discussion of the quarter’s programming, including Squid Game Season 2. Later, a March 27, 2026 report by Kiplinger described another increase across U.S. tiers. Did Squid Game Season 2 make Netflix raise prices?
The available evidence supports a connection in timing and business context, not a one-show explanation. Netflix discussed the series as part of a successful quarter and reported strong audience figures, but it did not say that Season 2 alone triggered its January 2025 pricing decision.
How large was the audience?
Netflix Tudum reported on June 23, 2025 that Season 2 had 192.6 million views, making it the third-largest season in Netflix history by views as of that date. What reason does Netflix give for changing prices?
Netflix says it periodically adjusts prices to invest in the service and better serve members. Its Investor Relations pricing FAQ also says the company tests different plans and price points to understand consumer demand. How much is Netflix now?
There is no single Netflix price that applies to every reader: the amount depends on country, plan, and potentially the way the subscription is billed. Kiplinger’s March 27, 2026 report described a U.S. increase, but the official materials available here do not establish its exact tier prices or start dates. - Country and date the price applies.
- Plan tier, including whether it has ads, how many simultaneous streams it allows, and the video quality listed.
- Any extra-member charge, taxes, or partner-billed package.
- Your billing date and whether the price change has reached your account.
Why did my Netflix bill go up?
Start with your account’s payment history and the notice Netflix sent you. The company says it emails affected members and displays a message when they sign in, one month before the billing date on which the new price takes effect. Netflix’s Help Center says to check account payment history for details. If a partner bills you for Netflix, that partner sends the price-change notice, so check its billing account as well. What Netflix’s latest financial outlook says about pricing
In its January 20, 2026 Q4 2025 shareholder letter, Netflix reported $45 billion in revenue for 2025, up 16% for the year, and forecast 12%–14% revenue growth in 2026. The company cited membership and pricing increases, along with projected advertising growth, as drivers.
