Short answer: LoneStar Casino says it is a play-for-fun social casino, not a conventional cash-wagering casino. But its promotional rules describe contests that may let eligible players redeem prizes for cash or gift cards. Whether you can participate depends on current rules and your location; the Illinois Gaming Board has specifically challenged the service’s prize offers in Illinois.
What does “real money” mean on LoneStar Casino?
It helps to separate three things: depositing money to place bets, buying optional in-app currency, and entering promotional contests that can result in a redeemable prize. LoneStar’s website calls the service play-for-fun and says “NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.” Its Promotional Play Rules say that no actual money is required to play and that a purchase or payment will not increase a participant’s chance of winning. LoneStar Casino homepage · Promotional Play Rules
Those statements describe the operator’s model; they do not mean that no cash or cash-equivalent prize is possible. The rules describe Sweep Coins contests and prize redemption. That is different from saying players make ordinary cash wagers, and it does not guarantee that a particular player will qualify for or receive a prize.
Can you win or redeem cash?
LoneStar’s Promotional Play Rules, version 1.8, last updated August 21, 2026, state minimum redemption amounts of $100 for cash and $45 for gift-card prizes. The rules also say those thresholds may be amended, so check the current terms before relying on them. A minimum redemption amount is not a promise of approval, eligibility, or a particular payment timeline.

The rules describe the service this way: “THE LONESTARCASINO SERVICES, WHICH INCLUDE WITHOUT LIMITATION THE SWEEP COINS MODE CONTESTS ARE NOT ‘REAL MONEY GAMBLING’.” That is the operator’s characterization in its own terms, not an independent regulator’s ruling. What has the Illinois Gaming Board said?
The Illinois Gaming Board’s February 4, 2026 letter says the Board observed LoneStar offering Illinois users slots and table games through internet and mobile devices, with opportunities to win cash, gift cards, and other prizes. The letter states: “The IGB has neither licensed nor authorized LoneStar Casino to engage in online gambling activity.” The Board said it considered the activity illegal gambling under Illinois law and demanded that LoneStar block Illinois residents or discontinue the prize offers. - Offers big blind, little blind, and dealer buttons
- Also includes two decks of playing cards
- Poker chip set housed in a silver aluminum case
This is the regulator’s position and demand concerning Illinois—not a finding about every state. The letter describes what the Board observed on January 12, 2026, and the sources available here do not establish whether LoneStar complied or whether Illinois access is currently blocked. Do not treat the letter as proof of present-day access or legal status elsewhere.
Does the app’s “free” label mean there are no purchases?
No. Apple’s US App Store listing describes LoneStar as free with in-app purchases, labels it 18+, and lists simulated gambling. It also says the app is for entertainment and that no purchase is necessary. That is consistent with optional purchases coexisting with a no-purchase-needed promotional play route; it does not show that payment is required to enter contests. App Store labels are not independent verification of payout reliability or legal classification. Apple App Store listing.

Can you use LoneStar in your state?
Do not assume that US availability means participation is allowed in every state. LoneStar’s geographic notice and Promotional Play Rules do not show fully consistent exclusion lists, and the terms can change. Check the current official location notice and rules before registering, playing, or trying to redeem a prize. LoneStar identifies Realplay Tech Inc. as its website operator; its responsible gameplay policy and Apple listing use Realplay Ltd or Realplay LTD for the software developer or app seller. LoneStar presents itself as a social casino with no-purchase-necessary promotional play, not as conventional cash wagering. Its published rules nevertheless describe possible cash and gift-card redemption, subject to eligibility and changeable terms. The Illinois Gaming Board has challenged the prize offers under Illinois law, and the available record does not establish the current status of compliance or access there.
