Grand Theft Auto VI has not been officially delayed again. Rockstar’s announced release date remains November 19, 2026, and Take-Two reaffirmed that date on August 7. The latest delay speculation comes from Mike York, a former Rockstar animator offering a personal forecast—not from a confirmed announcement or a report that he knows the current team’s plans.
Is GTA 6 delayed again?
No. As of October 8, 2026, Rockstar’s latest announced release date is November 19, 2026. The company previously moved the game’s date and said the additional time would let the team finish it with the level of polish players expect. Take-Two reaffirmed the November 19 date in its August 7, 2026 results briefing.
A release date can change, but York’s comments do not establish that Rockstar has decided to delay the game. The announced date is the schedule, not a guarantee against a future change.
Who said GTA 6 could be delayed again?
Mike York, a former Rockstar animator who worked on Grand Theft Auto V and left the company in 2017, told Indy100 that he would not be surprised if GTA 6 were delayed again. GameSpot reported his remarks on August 6, 2026. York said another six months was possible if the team needed more time, and said, “I would not be shocked at all” if Rockstar decided to delay it.

York’s view is based on his past experience at Rockstar. The cited report does not identify him as speaking for Rockstar or as having inside knowledge of the current development schedule. Calling him a “leaker” overstates what the report establishes: this is an opinion about what might happen, not a leak confirming a decision.
When is GTA 6 coming out?
The announced release date is November 19, 2026. Rockstar set that date in its November 6, 2025 announcement, and Take-Two reiterated it on August 7, 2026. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick tied the expected launch to the company’s fiscal 2027 outlook, saying, “With these positive trends and excitement around the November 19 launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, we are reiterating our Fiscal 2027 Net Bookings outlook of $8 billion to $8.2 billion.”

That statement confirms Take-Two’s published expectation at the time of the briefing; it does not remove the possibility of a later schedule change.
What platforms and editions are announced?
Take-Two announced versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders beginning June 25, 2026. Its June 24 release listed the following launch editions and prices:

Rockstar Support lists Standard and Ultimate editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its support page, last updated August 18, 2026, says a physical copy comes in a box containing a download code, not a disc. Physical copies were expected to be available from retailers for shipping or pickup beginning November 12, 2026, with codes available for preloading from that date.
