Grand Games’ $3 million raise was a 2024 pre-seed round intended to fund several mobile-game launches, team growth, and continued development of its titles—not a new financing announcement. At the time, Magic Sort! was in U.S. soft launch, Car Match was expected later in July 2024, and a social-focused flagship was planned for 2025.
What Grand Games planned to launch with the $3 million
In its July 15, 2024 report, GamesBeat described the $3 million pre-seed as funding for developing mobile games, expanding the team, and further developing each game. The announcement concerned three projects, but only two had near-term timing attached:
- Magic Sort!: a color-matching puzzle that GamesBeat said was in soft launch in the United States on iOS and Android.
- Car Match: GamesBeat reported it was due later in July 2024.
- A social-focused flagship: the company planned a game centered on social interaction for 2025.
Those are plans and availability statements reported in July 2024, not confirmation of either game’s current status or whether the flagship ultimately launched. Who led the pre-seed—and why accounts differ
The investor attribution is inconsistent across the available accounts. GamesBeat’s July 15, 2024 article names Earlybird Digital East Fund as lead investor and Laton Ventures as a participant. Grand Games’ timeline instead places the pre-seed in February 2024 and says Bek Ventures led it, with Laton Ventures participating. Grand Games’ timeline records the company’s founding in Istanbul in January 2024, publication of Magic Sort in April, and Car Match entering soft launch in July. It also records a $30 million Series A in December 2024. These entries help distinguish the company’s retrospective dates from GamesBeat’s July announcement date.

Türkiye’s Investment Office also reported that Magic Sort and Car Match together generated more than $4 million in monthly gross in-app revenue within three months of launch. The 2024 announcement framed the money as support for a slate of games and an expanding team, rather than a single launch. Grand co-founder and CEO Bekir Batuhan Çelebi told GamesBeat: “We saw how fragmented mobile game development had become and took the opportunity to build a radically different company to what we were seeing in the market.” The later Balderton account of five autonomous studios describes a studio structure, while its stated use of Series B proceeds emphasizes marketing, scaling existing games, and upcoming releases.

The trajectory is therefore clearer than the original lead-investor attribution: the company timeline and later reporting record a $30 million Series A and a $70 million Series B after the pre-seed. The early investor discrepancy remains unresolved in the sources cited here.
