Dior is giving its Chiffre Rouge watch collection renewed attention: the brand says it reinvented the line twenty years after its launch, with Swiss-made automatic movements and Zenith El Primero movements in its chronographs. That is evidence of fresh product development, but it does not, on its own, prove a wider strategic shift or show how well the watches are selling.
What Dior has changed with Chiffre Rouge
Dior describes the relaunch as a return to the collection’s original codes, combining sporty styling with couture details. The brand’s Chiffre Rouge collection page says the line was reinvented twenty years after its launch.
The range’s design centers on an architecturally asymmetric, two-part case, with the crown positioned at four o’clock. Cannage, the pattern associated with Dior, appears on the dial and the movement’s oscillating weight. The date disc displays the number eight in red—a reference Dior connects to Monsieur Dior’s lucky number.
What movements are inside the watches?
Dior says Chiffre Rouge watches use automatic movements manufactured in Switzerland. For the chronograph models, it names the Zenith El Primero as the movement. A sapphire caseback shows the movement and its cannage decoration, according to Dior.

What the featured models look like
Dior’s US feature page describes three designs: two 41 mm chronographs with midnight-blue styling, and a model with a pink mother-of-pearl dial.

Dior says artisans hand-fit the red seconds hand. Its feature page also describes an automatic movement visible through the caseback and a cannage-engraved oscillating weight bearing the Dior name. These details are the brand’s descriptions, not independent assessments of craftsmanship.
Does the relaunch prove Dior has changed its strategy?
It supports a narrower conclusion: Dior is developing and presenting a renewed watch collection with named movement credentials and recognizable house design details. The cited material does not establish Dior-watch-specific investment, sales results, or organizational changes, so a broader claim that the company has shifted its overall strategy toward watchmaking would go beyond what it documents.

Christian Dior’s 2024 financial release reports €10.577 billion in Watches & Jewelry revenue for the group category, an organic revenue decline of 2% compared with 2023, and a 28% decline in recurring operating profit. The release attributes part of the profit decline to store renovation and communications investment, as well as currency fluctuations. Those figures cover the group’s Watches & Jewelry business; they are not Dior-watch sales or Chiffre Rouge results.
Leadership news should not be read as proof of a Dior Watches reporting line. In its March 12, 2025 appointments announcement, LVMH said Frédéric Arnault was then CEO of LVMH Watches, responsible for Hublot, TAG Heuer, and Zenith, and that a replacement would be announced shortly. The announcement does not say Dior watches were placed under that division.

The published information is useful for understanding the collection’s stated design and movement choices, especially the El Primero in the chronographs. It is not enough to judge financial value or ownership costs. Dior’s cited pages do not provide current prices, model-by-model performance testing, or evidence about resale value. Buyers comparing watches should verify the exact reference, price, availability, warranty, and servicing terms with Dior or an authorized retailer.
