Industry rules allow additional payments for some later uses of productions; they do not establish Radcliffe’s contract terms or payment history.
What is publicly known about Radcliffe’s current Harry Potter income?
No verified public figure establishes whether Radcliffe currently receives Harry Potter-related payments. The sources available do not disclose his individual agreements, payment statements, or current amounts. It is therefore not possible to say that he definitely still earns money from the franchise—or to quantify any ongoing income.
How could later-use residuals apply?
SAG-AFTRA defines residuals as additional compensation paid to performers when a production is shown beyond the original use covered by initial compensation. Its guidance identifies categories that include television, cable, home video, and new media. For theatrical films, later releases on DVD, on-demand services, television, or new media can trigger residuals under applicable rules. SAG-AFTRA’s residuals overview and its TV and Theatrical Residuals Quick Guide describe these general mechanisms.
Those rules make a payment from later uses possible in principle. They do not show that Radcliffe qualifies under a particular film contract, that a particular broadcast or stream generated a payment to him, or that any payment is still being made.

Are residuals the same as foreign royalties?
No. SAG-AFTRA explains that foreign royalties arise under foreign laws and agreements with collecting societies, and says they are not residuals. The existence of those systems does not establish that Radcliffe is eligible for, or currently receives, foreign royalties. SAG-AFTRA’s foreign royalties guidance explains the distinction.
What does the reported $95.6 million figure mean?
Fortune reported an estimate of about $95.6 million in total earnings from the Harry Potter franchise in 2024. That is a media-reported historical estimate, not an audited personal financial disclosure or a measure of current annual income. It also does not show that Radcliffe continues to receive royalties or residuals. Fortune’s 2024 report is the source of the estimate.

What the available evidence can—and cannot—tell you
- Possible: General residual rules provide for additional compensation in certain later-use situations.
- Not confirmed: Whether Radcliffe’s individual contracts entitle him to a specific payment from a later use of the films.
- Not disclosed: His current residual or foreign-royalty statements and any ongoing payment amount.
- Not established by the earnings estimate: An annual income figure or continuing share of franchise revenue.
Initial acting compensation, later-use residuals, and foreign royalties are distinct. None should be treated as proof that he receives a share of merchandise or theme-park revenue, or as evidence of a particular current income stream.
