In an update dated July 24, 2026, the company reported 228 stores open and 31 closed. Because store status can change, check At Home’s store locator for a specific location.
What happened to At Home?
At Home sought Chapter 11 protection in June 2025. Chapter 11 is a court-supervised business reorganization; a company can continue operating while it restructures. At Home’s July 2025 disclosure statement described the proposed plan, but that document is historical: the company later announced confirmation of its plan and reported that the restructuring was completed in October 2025.
The filing was not the same as a liquidation or an announcement that all stores would close. In its current customer-service update, At Home says it continues to serve customers. That company-wide assurance does not establish that every location, order, product, or customer program is unaffected.
Is At Home open, and how many stores have closed?
At Home’s customer-service FAQ, updated July 24, 2026, reports 228 stores open and 31 closed. These are the retailer’s reported figures as of that update, not a guarantee of a particular store’s present status. Use the store locator to check a location before visiting.

The FAQ also addresses which stores have closed, but store information is subject to change. If you need to know whether a specific store is operating, rely on its current listing or contact the store rather than assuming the chain-wide count answers that question.
What did the restructuring change?
At Home’s September 2025 confirmation release said the plan would eliminate substantially all of nearly $2 billion in funded debt and provide access to approximately $500 million under an asset-based loan. The release also said ownership would transition to a group of lenders, including funds affiliated with Redwood Capital Management, Farallon Capital Management, and Anchorage Capital Advisors. At Home’s later FAQ reports that the restructuring was completed in October 2025.

The July 2025 disclosure statement had proposed eliminating approximately $1.620 billion of approximately $1.998 billion in debt. Those were figures in the proposed plan; the later confirmation release and completion update describe the subsequent outcome. The financing and debt changes do not, on their own, establish what will happen to any individual store or customer transaction.

In its court-filed first-day declaration, At Home attributed its financial strain to a combination of macroeconomic conditions, retail-industry pressures, operational challenges, upcoming debt maturities, an anticipated going-concern audit opinion, and tariff policies introduced in 2025. The company also pointed to a post-pandemic reversal in demand for home goods, depressed homebuying, higher shipping, materials, labor, and fuel costs, and lower store traffic.

Those are the company’s stated explanations in a court filing, not an independent assessment of the retailer’s performance or a complete diagnosis of the causes. The declaration reported that in-store traffic at the start of 2025 was approximately 24% below pre-pandemic averages in 2020; that figure is At Home’s comparison, not an industry-wide statistic.

What should At Home customers do?
- Checking a store: Look up its current status in At Home’s store locator before traveling.
- Following a purchase or customer program: Check At Home’s current customer-service information for the specific order or program. A general statement that the company is serving customers does not settle every individual case.
- Understanding the bankruptcy news: Treat the June 2025 Chapter 11 filing as a completed restructuring, not a pending bankruptcy filing. At Home’s latest cited store count is dated July 24, 2026, and may change.
