Alan Pace is still listed as Burnley FC’s chairman and as an active director of the club’s operating company. The sources available as of 8 October 2026 do not confirm that he is leaving or selling his stake, and they do not establish what he intends to do next.
What is confirmed about Alan Pace’s role at Burnley?
Burnley’s official leadership information identifies Pace as chairman. The club’s Innovation Hub describes him as “OWNER & CHAIRMAN” and says he became chairman after acquiring the club in 2020. Companies House also lists him as an active director of Burnley Football & Athletic Company, Limited.
These records establish his current formal roles; they do not guarantee how long he will remain in them. Companies House records show that Pace was appointed a director on 30 December 2020. The company’s filing history also records group accounts made up to 31 July 2025, filed on 29 April 2026. Those filings provide corporate context, not evidence of a decision about his future.
Is Alan Pace leaving or selling Burnley?
No departure or sale is confirmed in the sources reviewed. Nor is there a direct, current statement from Pace establishing his future intentions. Fan criticism, poor results, financial concerns, or reports about other executives should not be treated as proof that he has decided to leave.

The distinction matters: a current leadership listing tells readers who holds a role now; it does not resolve a private intention or establish that a transaction is under way. A sale or departure claim would need confirmation from a reliable, current source, such as the club, Pace, or relevant corporate filings.
How Pace became Burnley chairman
In December 2020, Velocity Sports Partners, the sports investment arm of ALK Capital, acquired a controlling 84% stake in Burnley, according to the Premier League’s announcement at the time. Pace became chairman following the takeover. That figure explains the origin of his role; it is not evidence of a current sale process.

In the Premier League’s 2020 report, Pace described the takeover as “a new era for Burnley” and said the investors would be “stewards of this historic football club.” That was a statement made when the acquisition was announced, not a current declaration about how long he plans to stay.
What recent reports say—and what they do not prove
Reported comments about a long-term project
A Burnley FC News report dated 22 September 2026 said Pace told a Fan Advisory Board gathering that Burnley was a long-term project. The same report attributed to him a claim that more than £40 million of inter-company debt had been repaid. Both are claims reported by that outlet; the debt figure is not independently verified by the sources reviewed. Neither confirms his future tenure or a decision to sell.

Criticism over results
Spanish outlet AS reported on 20 September 2026 on criticism of Burnley amid poor early-season results and concerns about ownership. That is context for public discussion, not evidence that Pace is departing.

Velocity Sports Partners completed the purchase of a majority stake in Espanyol in 2025, adding a multi-club dimension to the ownership context. The BBC’s report quoted Pace saying, “Each club will retain its own leadership, identity, independence and decision-making, run by its own people, for its own supporters.” That statement described the clubs’ intended relationship; it does not establish a change in his role at Burnley.
