Apple’s results confirm that strong iPhone 17 demand is helping drive record quarterly iPhone revenue and its strongest-ever June quarter. But fiscal 2026 is not yet a confirmed record year, and Apple had not raised iPhone prices as of July 30, 2026. Buyers choosing more expensive Pro models are lifting Apple’s revenue per iPhone; possible future list-price increases are more directly tied to rising memory and component costs.
What Apple’s latest results actually show
For the quarter ended March 28, 2026, Apple reported revenue of $111.2 billion, up 17% year over year. The company said iPhone revenue set a March-quarter record, attributing it to extraordinary demand for the iPhone 17 lineup. Earnings-call coverage put iPhone revenue at about $57 billion, up roughly 22% year over year; that is revenue growth, not evidence of a 22% increase in units sold. Apple’s Q2 results and Associated Press earnings-call coverage provide the figures and attribution.
Apple’s fiscal Q3, the June quarter, was its strongest June quarter ever, with double-digit growth across iPhone, Mac and Services. That is a company-wide quarterly milestone, not proof that the iPhone alone drove the result. Apple’s Q3 announcement reports the quarter’s headline result; S&P Global’s analysis also points to Services, product mix and margin expansion as contributors to performance.
These are strong results, but “record year” needs a time qualifier. As of August 18, 2026, Apple had reported only its first three fiscal quarters; fiscal 2026 ends with the September quarter. Apple is on pace for a record-setting year, but the full-year result is not established until Q4 is reported. Apple’s investor-relations archive lists its quarterly reporting, while its Q2 filing explains the company’s fiscal periods and seasonal patterns.

Revenue growth is not the same as unit growth
Apple’s reported revenue combines how many devices it sells with what customers buy, where they buy them, and the prices and currencies involved. The company’s public results establish strong financial performance and management’s description of demand, but do not provide a complete current unit-sales breakdown by iPhone model. It would therefore be misleading to translate the revenue increase directly into an equivalent increase in phones sold.
S&P Global noted that strong results coexisted with softer iPhone unit growth, supply constraints, favorable product mix and pricing. That distinction matters: Apple can generate more revenue even if unit growth is less dramatic, particularly when buyers choose higher-priced configurations.

Why Pro models matter to Apple’s results
Apple’s Q2 filing says higher net sales of Pro models were a primary reason iPhone net sales increased compared with the same period in 2025, both for the quarter and the first six months of fiscal 2026. A shift toward Pro and Pro Max can raise revenue per phone without requiring broad-based unit growth.
Storage upgrades can also increase the amount customers spend. The available filing does not establish how much each model or storage tier contributed, nor does it quantify the iPhone Air’s sales or the iPhone 17e’s effect on the mix. It is reasonable to view those models as different rungs in Apple’s product range, but not to claim they are driving a particular share of sales without model-level data.

Are iPhones already more expensive?
Apple’s U.S. Store displayed the following starting prices when checked August 16–18, 2026. These are U.S. prices, not worldwide pricing, and the iPhone 17 price depends on the displayed connection option. Storage, carrier terms, promotions and trade-ins can change the amount a buyer ultimately pays.
| Model | U.S. Apple Store starting price | What can change the effective price |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 17 | $799 with carrier activation; $829 when connecting later | Carrier, storage and trade-in |
| iPhone Air | $999 | Storage, carrier and trade-in |
| iPhone 17 Pro | $1,099 | Storage, carrier and trade-in |
| iPhone 17 Pro Max | $1,199 | Storage, carrier and trade-in |
| iPhone 17e | $599 | Carrier and trade-in |
Prices are from Apple’s U.S. iPhone buying page, iPhone 17 purchase page and iPhone 17 Pro purchase page. Apple’s displayed offers can change; a carrier-activation price may require a particular purchase path, while carrier bill credits can come with plan, installment or trade-in conditions.

Those starting prices do not, by themselves, show that Apple raised prices because of iPhone 17 demand. A different financial effect is already visible: stronger sales of higher-priced Pro models can raise Apple’s realized revenue per iPhone even if list prices for comparable models do not change. As of July 30, 2026, the Associated Press reported that Apple had not yet raised iPhone prices. That is a dated report, not a guarantee about later models or future pricing.

Demand can give Apple room to pass costs on, but it is not the only—and may not be the immediate—reason prices could rise. AP reported that analysts and consumers expected possible increases later in 2026, while reporting cited memory costs as a major pressure. AI data-center demand is reportedly tightening the market for memory and storage, raising component costs. Apple’s SEC filing also identifies tariffs and component availability as risks that can affect demand, expenses, pricing and margins.

If costs increase, Apple has several choices: raise list prices, charge more for higher storage, absorb some expense and accept lower margins, or steer sales toward more profitable models. A price increase on a future iPhone would not prove the iPhone 17 itself caused it. The more complete explanation is that strong demand may support Apple’s pricing power while component inflation creates pressure to use it.

What buyers should consider before purchasing
Do not buy an iPhone solely because a future price increase is rumored. Compare the phone and the total cost against your actual needs:
- Choose the base iPhone 17 for value if its features and storage suit you. The Pro premium is worthwhile only if you will use the capabilities that distinguish it, such as its camera system, display or performance.
- Compare total prices, not just advertised monthly payments. Carrier credits may depend on a qualifying plan, installment agreement or trade-in. Financing spreads payment over time; it does not reduce the total unless a discount or credit applies.
- Check trade-in offers against alternatives. Apple’s estimate depends on model and condition and can change; a private sale may bring more but takes effort. See Apple Trade In for its current terms.
- Price storage before choosing a model. Higher capacities can materially increase the total. Buy the capacity you need rather than treating the starting price as the price of every configuration.
- Consider your upgrade pattern. An upgrade program may suit frequent upgraders who value predictable payments, but buyers who keep phones longer should compare its full cost and conditions with buying outright.
What investors should watch next
Fiscal Q4 will show whether the strong first-three-quarter performance carried through the September quarter and will complete the fiscal-year comparison. Investors assessing the durability of the iPhone story should separate growth in revenue from growth in units and watch for disclosures or management commentary on:
- iPhone revenue and any available commentary on unit demand or regional performance;
- Pro-model mix and whether it continues to lift revenue per device;
- gross margins as memory, other component costs and tariffs affect expenses;
- Services and Mac growth, which contribute to Apple’s company-wide results;
- supply constraints, currency effects and consumer response to any price changes; and
- carrier promotions and the next iPhone cycle, which can affect demand and comparisons with a strong launch period.
Apple’s filing warns that trade measures and component availability can influence demand, costs, pricing and operating results. That makes margin performance and the company’s cost commentary as important as the headline revenue figure.
