The reported iPhone 13 price cut in China was a real promotion—but it was a Pinduoduo offer reported on April 11, 2022, not a confirmed Apple-wide price reduction. The 128GB model was listed at about RMB 4,999, compared with RMB 5,999 at JD.com, a difference of RMB 1,000 (about 16.7%). That historical promotion should not be mistaken for a price available today.
What the China promotion actually offered
Gizchina reported on April 11, 2022 that Pinduoduo displayed the standard iPhone 13 with 128GB of storage for approximately RMB 4,999 through its “10 billion yuan subsidy” program. The comparison price cited was about RMB 5,999, the price then shown on JD.com’s self-operated listing. The reported difference was RMB 1,000, or approximately 16.7% of RMB 5,999. Gizchina’s April 11, 2022 report is the source for those historical listing prices.

The report separately attributed a claim to Weibo technology blogger @Kang that Apple would reduce its delivery price by about $80, or roughly RMB 509. That was a reported delivery-price adjustment, not proof that Apple cut the consumer price by RMB 1,000. The article did not establish that the blogger’s claim was independently confirmed.

Why it was not a confirmed Apple price cut
A manufacturer’s price, a retailer’s listing and the amount a customer pays after a platform subsidy are different things. In this case, the lower price was associated with Pinduoduo’s promotion, while JD.com was still listing the 128GB phone at around RMB 5,999. Gizchina also said Apple had not made an official announcement about a retail-price change. The available evidence therefore supports a substantial platform-specific discount, not a verified Apple-wide MSRP reduction or a new national price.
#1 Best Overall
- This pre-owned product is not Apple certified, but has been professionally inspected, tested and cleaned by Amazon-qualified suppliers.
- There will be no visible cosmetic imperfections when held at an arm’s length.
- This product is eligible for a replacement or refund within 90 days of receipt if you are not satisfied.
- Product may come in generic Box.
It is plausible that a platform subsidy or a retailer’s inventory strategy produced the lower checkout price, but the report did not establish the seller’s precise arrangement or Apple’s motivation. Nor did it document the exact stock, coupon requirements or eligibility rules for every buyer.
Which iPhone 13 was covered?
The reported RMB 4,999 offer concerned the standard iPhone 13 with 128GB of storage. It does not establish the same price for the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, or versions with 256GB or 512GB. Treat each of those as a separate product and do not apply the reported discount to them without a listing that specifically verifies it.

Was the Pinduoduo listing legitimate?
Gizchina said the listing described the phone as genuine and offered a full refund if it proved counterfeit. It also raised the possibility that an order could become unavailable or be “cut off.” Those are reports of the platform listing’s claims and supply uncertainty—not independent verification of every unit, seller or order. The evidence does not show that the offer was fraudulent, but it also does not establish that it was Apple-authorized stock.

Is RMB 4,999 still available?
The RMB 4,999 figure belongs to the April 2022 promotion; the cited report does not support treating it as a current price. Apple’s current mainland China iPhone purchase page shows newer models rather than the iPhone 13 as a current new-phone listing. A marketplace might separately have used, refurbished or old-stock units, but no current RMB 4,999 iPhone 13 offer is established here.

If you find an iPhone 13 listing, first determine whether it is sealed new stock, open-box, refurbished or used. A low price alone does not tell you which. For used devices, request the battery-health reading and check for replaced parts or prior repairs where that information is available. For any condition, confirm the activation status, warranty start date and remaining coverage, return window, storage capacity, seller identity, and whether the price requires a coupon or membership.

- Inspected and guaranteed to have minimal cosmetic damage, which is not noticeable when the device is held at arm's length.
- Successfully passed a full diagnostic test which ensures like-new functionality and removal of any prior-user personal information.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a charging cable that may be generic.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Also verify that the regional model suits your intended use. China-market and imported iPhones can differ in SIM configuration, eSIM availability, service behavior, repair eligibility and network-band compatibility. The available information does not establish every regional difference, so check the exact model and current Apple support details rather than relying on a generic claim that all versions work identically.
Apple’s China store currently presents other buying paths, but they are not direct equivalents to a 2022 iPhone 13 promotion. The page lists starting prices of RMB 4,499 for iPhone 17e, RMB 5,399 for iPhone 16, RMB 5,999 for iPhone 17 and RMB 7,999 for iPhone Air. Those are current listed starting prices, not like-for-like comparisons in generation, configuration or features. Apple also advertises estimated trade-in credit of RMB 900–RMB 5,350 for eligible iPhone 13 and later devices, depending on model, condition and eligibility; it is not a guaranteed cash offer. Apple China’s purchase page provides the current model and trade-in information. Eligible installment offers of up to 24 months interest-free are subject to payment-provider participation and terms; see Apple China’s iPhone page.
