What happened to IOCL AQCO recruitment 2025?
IOCL advertised the posts under advertisement RD-2025, dated 1 March 2025. It offered 97 vacancies for Assistant Quality Control Officers in Grade A0. The application window opened at 10:00 on 1 March and closed at 23:55 on 21 March 2025. Applications were online only. The RD-2025 advertisement contains the original terms and eligibility rules.

IOCL’s recruitment listing records the CBT on 31 May 2025, followed by scorecard and call-letter windows in July and August, and GD/GT/PI results available from 15 to 25 September 2025. Those download windows have passed. The reviewed official listing does not establish a final appointment or joining outcome. Check IOCL’s current recruitment listing for any subsequent notice.
Who was eligible to apply?
Eligibility was assessed as of 28 February 2025. Applicants needed to meet the degree, marks, experience and age conditions below; the advertisement’s detailed definitions and category rules control in edge cases.

Degree and marks
The required qualification was a regular, full-time master’s degree in Chemistry or an accepted equivalent from a recognized Indian university or institute. Listed equivalents included inorganic, organic, analytical, physical, applied and industrial chemistry. The notice excluded disciplines such as biochemistry, pharmacy, toxicology, geochemistry, pharmacology and food technology.
- General, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates needed at least 60% marks.
- SC, ST and PwBD candidates needed at least 55% marks.
- Rounding up marks was not allowed. Where a degree used grades or a CGPA, the institution’s conversion rules applied.
Relevant experience
Candidates needed at least two cumulative years of qualifying experience after the result of their qualifying degree. It had to be in testing, research and development, or quality control in a petroleum, petrochemical, polymer or fertilizer unit laboratory, or in a qualifying NABL-accredited chemical testing laboratory with the specified lubricant or petroleum-product scope. Academic teaching or research and short-term student projects did not qualify. Check the advertisement for the precise experience conditions before treating a borderline role as eligible.
Age
The maximum age for General and EWS applicants was 30 years as of 28 February 2025. The advertisement set out relaxations for eligible categories. The same 28 February 2025 cutoff applied to age, qualification and experience.
What does an Assistant Quality Control Officer do?
The advertisement describes work focused on laboratory quality control and assurance across IOCL operations. Indicative duties include testing fuels, petrochemical and polymer products, biofuels, lubricants and other samples; operating or calibrating laboratory instruments; testing samples and water or effluent; preparing records and certificates of analysis; maintaining laboratory quality systems; and following safety requirements. These are indicative duties, not a promise that every officer will carry out every task.

Posting could be at refinery or marketing units. The notice also allowed transfers anywhere in India or to IOCL subsidiaries and joint ventures.

The process comprised a computer-based test (CBT), group discussion or group task (GD/GT), and personal interview (PI). The notice prescribed qualifying thresholds and category provisions for the later stages.
CBT format
- 135 objective questions, carrying one mark each.
- 120 minutes to complete the test.
- Questions in English and Hindi.
- No negative marking.
- Coverage of general aptitude and discipline knowledge.
Recorded recruitment milestones
IOCL’s listing gives the CBT date as 31 May 2025. It lists scorecard availability from 28 July to 25 August 2025, call letters for shortlisted GD/GT/PI candidates from 18 July to 6 August 2025, and GD/GT/PI results from 15 to 25 September 2025. These were time-limited historical availability periods, not current download dates. The listing is the appropriate place to check for a later recruitment update.
How were applications submitted?
The 2025 process required applicants to complete two online steps before the deadline:
- Register and create a profile on the recruitment portal.
- Log in, complete and submit the application, and pay the online fee where applicable.
Both steps had to be completed by 23:55 on 21 March 2025. The application period is closed; the old notice should not be treated as an active application link.
