Intel reported $13.7 billion in revenue and positive earnings per share for Q3 2025, while saying demand for its products was outpacing supply. The results, announced October 23, 2025, were a sharp improvement on the year-earlier quarter—but Intel described the figures as preliminary and unaudited, and its forecast that the supply gap would persist into 2026 was management’s expectation, not a guaranteed outcome.
What Intel reported for Q3 2025
Intel’s October 23, 2025 earnings release reported revenue of $13.7 billion, up 3% from Q3 2024. The company also reported positive diluted earnings per share on both GAAP and non-GAAP bases. Intel said the Q3 2025 figures were preliminary and unaudited.

| Measure | Q3 2025 | Q3 2024 |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $13.7 billion; up 3% year over year | Not stated in Intel’s Q3 2025 release summary |
| GAAP diluted EPS | $0.90 | Loss of $3.88 |
| Non-GAAP diluted EPS | $0.23 | Loss of $0.46 |
| GAAP gross margin | 38.2% | 15.0% |
| Non-GAAP gross margin | 40.0% | 18.0% |
| GAAP operating margin | 5.0% | Loss margin of 68.2% |
| Non-GAAP operating margin | 11.2% | Loss margin of 17.8% |
The sharp year-over-year earnings and margin changes need context: Intel was comparing with a quarter in which it reported losses, including a particularly large GAAP operating loss. GAAP and non-GAAP figures are not interchangeable; non-GAAP results use company-defined adjustments. The release’s figures show a substantial improvement, but do not by themselves establish that the improvement was driven solely by AI demand.

What Intel meant by demand outpacing supply
In the Q3 2025 release, CFO David Zinsner said: “Current demand is outpacing supply, a trend we expect will persist into 2026.” That was a forward-looking statement made in October 2025. It described Intel’s view of its demand and supply position at the time, not a measured industry-wide shortage or a promise that the company would meet all orders.

- Robust Power & Thermal Design: Engineered with 125W base power and 250W max turbo power to sustain high‑intensity
The release’s AI framing should also be read with care. Intel later characterized AI as a source of substantial compute demand, but that company view does not show that AI alone caused every change in Q3 revenue, margins, or earnings. The reported results and the supply outlook are related context, not proof of a single cause.
What later results say about supply
Intel’s Q2 2026 results and Form 10-Q provide a later check on the 2025 outlook. For Q2 2026, Intel reported $16.1 billion in revenue, up 25% year over year, a GAAP diluted loss per share of $2.16, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $0.42. Revenue growth and earnings therefore moved differently in that quarter; the revenue figure alone does not show that profitability improved.

- Compatible with Intel 600-series (with potential BIOS update) or 700-series chipset-based motherboards
- DDR4 and DDR5 platform support cuts your load times and gives you the space to run the most demanding games
In its Q2 2026 Form 10-Q, Intel said market demand in both the quarter and year to date exceeded available product supply. It also said industry-wide shortages of substrates, memory, and other critical components were expected to persist into 2027 and could limit its ability to meet demand fully. This later filing supports the view that constraints continued, but it distinguishes product supply from shortages in components used across the industry.
Server products
Intel said Q2 2026 server volume rose 9% year over year, primarily because of higher hyperscaler demand. It also said demand still exceeded available server supply because of internal constraints. The volume increase is a reported result; the supply limitation is Intel’s explanation of the remaining gap.

Client products
Client revenue grew in Q2 2026 even as client volume fell 8% year over year. Intel attributed the revenue increase to product mix and pricing. It expected client supply constraints to ease in the second half of 2026, a product-specific outlook that should not be confused with its warning that broader component shortages could last longer.

What investors should take from the earnings and outlook
- The Q3 headline is a rebound, not a complete explanation. Intel reported higher revenue and a swing to positive EPS and margins versus a loss-making prior-year quarter. The figures alone do not isolate how much came from AI-related demand or other factors.
- Separate results from forecasts. Q3 2025 revenue and EPS were reported results; Zinsner’s expectation that demand would exceed supply into 2026 was a forecast. Later disclosures indicate constraints persisted, but describe different products and components separately.
- Track GAAP and non-GAAP measures independently. The measures differ, and Intel’s Q2 2026 results demonstrate that strong revenue growth can coexist with a GAAP loss and positive non-GAAP EPS.
- Supply limits can constrain sales opportunities. When demand exceeds available product supply, Intel may be unable to fulfill all demand. Its Q2 2026 filing also identified external component shortages and internal server constraints, so the bottleneck is not one uniform issue.
