Amazon Prime Day 2024 ran July 16–17, but the individual book deals from that event are not established by Amazon’s official announcements cited here. Amazon did announce book discounts earlier in a separate U.S. sale, May 15–20. Those offers were not Prime Day deals and have expired.

Were the May 2024 Amazon Book Sale discounts Prime Day deals?
No. Amazon announced a separate six-day U.S. Amazon Book Sale for May 15–20, 2024. It was open to all Amazon customers, so shoppers did not need Prime membership to participate. The timing and eligibility differed from Prime Day, which took place in July and offered event access to Prime members.

| Event | Dates | Who could shop | What Amazon announced |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Book Sale | May 15–20, 2024 | All Amazon customers | Up to 50% off print best sellers and up to 80% off Kindle Books |
| Amazon Prime Day | July 16–17, 2024 | Prime members | Millions of deals across more than 35 categories; no verified individual book-deal list is established here |
Amazon’s Book Sale announcement described the May discounts as event offers. The advertised maximums do not establish the discount on any particular title, and they should not be treated as current prices or as evidence of July Prime Day pricing.
Which books and reading offers did Amazon mention in May?
The May Book Sale announcement highlighted books trending on BookTok, book-club selections, titles adapted for screen, classics, children’s graphic novels and recommendations from Amazon Books Editors. It also named specific early offers: 70% off a Sarah J. Maas Kindle starter bundle, 75% off Alexis Hall’s A Lady for a Duke, and 57% off Rebecca Serle’s Expiration Dates. These were historical May offers, not verified Prime Day deals.

How did Amazon’s reading subscriptions differ from book discounts?
Amazon presented Prime Reading and Amazon First Reads as Prime benefits, while Kindle Unlimited could be subscribed to without Prime. These are separate reading services, not discounts on books to purchase. The May announcement included a three-month Kindle Unlimited offer for $0 and a May First Reads offer; those terms describe that promotion and do not establish current availability. See Amazon’s May Book Sale announcement for the event details.
