NVIDIA sells accelerated-computing platforms, and its latest reported growth is heavily concentrated in Data Center. For investors, the central difference is where execution must succeed: Intel must improve both product competitiveness and manufacturing economics; NVIDIA depends on customers continuing to fund and build the infrastructure needed to deploy its systems.
The figures below are reported company results, not forecasts or a stock recommendation. The periods differ: Intel’s Q2 2026 ended June 27, 2026; NVIDIA’s fiscal Q2 2027 ended July 26, 2026.

How do Intel and NVIDIA make money?
Intel: products plus manufacturing
Intel’s Intel Products business includes Client Computing and Edge (CCPG) and Data Center and AI (DCAI). CCPG sells processors and related products for PCs, edge devices, and consumer and commercial uses. DCAI sells x86-based solutions, including CPUs, AI accelerators, networking and infrastructure processors, and application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). Intel Foundry manufactures for Intel Products and is pursuing external foundry customers; Intel also uses third-party manufacturers to a lesser degree. Intel Q2 2026 Form 10-Q
This structure gives Intel exposure to both chip demand and the economics of making chips. Its investment case therefore depends not only on selling competitive products, but also on manufacturing progress, capacity use, and whether outside customers choose Intel Foundry on viable terms.

NVIDIA: accelerated-computing platforms
NVIDIA sells accelerated-computing platforms and products. In its fiscal Q2 2027 results, Data Center was the dominant revenue source: the company reported $89.0 billion in Data Center revenue out of $96.2 billion total revenue for the quarter ended July 26, 2026. That concentration makes demand for AI and other data-center infrastructure especially important to its recent results. NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 results release
NVIDIA’s customer opportunity depends on more than demand for accelerators. Customers need capital, power, land, and completed data-center facilities to install and operate AI systems. Its Q2 FY2027 filing says shortages or delays in those inputs, or slower adoption, can postpone customer purchases. NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q

Where do their business risks differ?
| Risk area | Intel | NVIDIA |
|---|---|---|
| Core demand exposure | PC and edge demand, data-center products, product transitions, and manufacturing utilization | Accelerated-computing demand, particularly Data Center and AI infrastructure deployment |
| Primary execution test | Advancing process technology and product competitiveness while winning external foundry customers at sustainable economics | Converting customer demand into deployed systems as customers build and finance data-center capacity |
| Capital and operations | Capital-intensive manufacturing and R&D, with long lead times and risk that capacity, yields, or demand do not align | Supply and capacity commitments made to meet expected demand, alongside customer dependence on facilities, power, and capital |
| Geopolitical and regulatory channel | Global manufacturing and supplier exposure, including disclosed risks involving Taiwan and Israeli operations; trade restrictions can affect supply, costs, and sales | Changing export controls can restrict advanced-computing products and market access, especially for China-related sales |
| Concentration and cycle | Results are exposed to PC and server cycles, competition, product transitions, and foundry utilization | Data Center’s large share of current revenue makes AI infrastructure demand and platform transitions consequential |
These are different exposure profiles, not a ranking of which business is safer. The risk descriptions reflect company disclosures in Intel’s Q2 2026 filing, Intel’s Q2 2026 results release, and NVIDIA’s Q2 FY2027 filing.

What should Intel investors monitor?
Foundry milestones versus commercial proof
Intel reported Intel 18A in high-volume production at the start of 2026, Intel 18A-P in risk production in June, and continued development of Intel 14A. These are technology and manufacturing milestones, not proof that Intel Foundry has achieved profitable external scale. Investors can look for evidence of outside-customer design wins and demand commitments, then assess whether production yields, utilization, margins, and returns on capital support the investment. Intel’s filing discusses the risks around foundry demand, competition, capital requirements, and manufacturing execution. Intel Q2 2026 Form 10-Q
Product competitiveness and operating economics
Intel’s results also depend on whether CCPG and DCAI products remain competitive and can meet customer demand at attractive margins. Product cycles, AI competition, supply constraints, and manufacturing costs can affect results alongside foundry progress. A foundry milestone by itself does not resolve those product-business questions. Intel Q2 2026 results release

Geopolitical and supply-chain disruption
Intel identifies supplier concentration and disruption risks involving Taiwan, as well as risks to its manufacturing and development operations in Israel. Conflict, trade restrictions, export controls, or interrupted supply could affect operations or sales; no particular geopolitical outcome is assured. Intel Q2 2026 Form 10-Q
What should NVIDIA investors monitor?
Whether infrastructure spending turns into deployments
NVIDIA reported $279 billion in supply and capacity commitments as of July 26, 2026, up from $119 billion in the prior quarter. Those commitments are intended to secure capacity for expected demand, but the company says they can be difficult to reduce if demand changes. Investors should weigh them against customer readiness to finance and build data centers, obtain power, and take delivery of systems. NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q

Export controls and China exposure
NVIDIA’s Q3 fiscal 2027 outlook excluded Data Center compute revenue from China. Its filing warns that export-control rules and licensing can change, constrain sales and distribution, increase compliance burdens, or contribute to excess inventory or supply charges. Restrictions may affect markets beyond China and could benefit competitors whose alternatives are less likely to be restricted. The outlook is a current indicator of exposure, not a permanent statement of which products can be sold where. NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 results release NVIDIA Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q
Demand expectations and concentration
With Data Center accounting for most of NVIDIA’s latest reported revenue, a slowdown in AI infrastructure spending or a transition between platforms could have significant consequences. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang described the market in the August 26, 2026 results release as having reached an inflection point, saying, “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue.” That is management’s view of the opportunity; it does not establish how long customer spending or growth will continue. How should investors compare the stocks?
Business exposure and stock attractiveness are separate questions. A company can post strong growth and still be expensive relative to expectations; a company with weak current economics can still have upside if results improve more than investors expect. The reported business figures here do not establish either company’s current valuation, comparative expected return, or suitability for an individual investor. A stock comparison also needs valuation and investor-specific information, which are not provided by operating results alone.
