Intel appointed Zoom chief operating officer Aparna Bawa as executive vice president and chief legal and people officer, with responsibility for its legal, ethics, compliance, people and culture organizations. Announced April 2, 2026, the appointment was expected to take effect in May, with Bawa reporting directly to Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan.
What Intel announced
Intel said Bawa would lead five areas across the company: legal, ethics, compliance, people and culture. The role brings legal and human-resources leadership under one executive reporting to Tan. Intel did not publish a detailed career chronology or identify Bawa’s earlier employers in its announcement.
Intel said Bawa was joining from Zoom, where she had served as COO and overseen operational, legal and people functions during a period of rapid growth and global scale. The company also cited her experience in corporate governance, global compliance, employment, mergers and acquisitions, and organizational transformation.
Why Intel linked the role to its transformation
Intel framed the appointment as part of its effort to improve execution and change company culture. Tan said in Intel’s announcement: “The role of legal and people leadership has never been more critical as Intel drives cultural transformation with discipline, speed, and integrity.”

That rationale connects governance and legal judgment with workforce and culture priorities. Intel said Bawa’s remit would include strengthening legal and compliance functions, advancing a high-performance culture, and aligning people strategy with long-term business priorities. The announcement describes the company’s aims; it does not establish what effect the appointment will have.
What was reported about the leadership transition
CRN reported that Bawa would take over Intel’s legal and HR functions after they had been led by different executives. According to CRN’s account of an employee memo from Tan, April Miller Boise would depart effective June 1, and Victoria Holroyd-Fogg had been serving as interim chief people officer.
