What is JOGO Studios?
JOGO launched in May 2024 with Rebelo as CEO. The studio’s stated model was to build original, user-generated-content-native intellectual property, beginning with experiences made in Fortnite using Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). Launch leadership also included COO Chad Mustard and CTO Mark Price. GamesBeat’s launch coverage described the studio and its original team.
Rebelo framed the ambition as reaching players where they already play, then potentially extending original IP beyond the game. In 2024 he told GamesBeat, “Our biggest aspiration is to make IP that lives in and outside of Fortnite.” The report mentioned other UGC platforms, media and memorabilia as possibilities; that was an aspiration, not evidence of an existing cross-platform franchise or merchandise line. Rebelo told GamesBeat at launch, “We’re making a $2 million bet so we can recruit triple-A talent.” That supports describing the amount as a stated commitment to attract experienced talent. For a personal-finance-minded reader, the distinction matters: a founder’s launch statement about intended investment is not the same as a verified expenditure, company valuation, revenue figure or profit. The $2 million should be understood as the scale of the launch pitch and hiring commitment, not a measure of current financial performance.

UEFN gives creators tools for building Fortnite islands, including Unreal Engine rendering, lighting, visual effects, animation and worldbuilding features. CTO Mark Price described the attraction as being able to “focus on the fun parts, the things that make players happy.” COO Chad Mustard contrasted the format with conventional AAA development, saying developers cannot make the same kinds of adjustments after launch. GamesBeat reported that JOGO acquired RHQ Creative in May 2025. In an August 2026 article, GamesBeat said four JOGO competitive maps generated $652,000 in engagement payouts over 15 months, accumulated 10.6 million hours of playtime, and saw playtime rise 402% year over year from July 2025 to July 2026. The $652,000 figure is specifically reported engagement payouts for four maps over the stated 15-month period. It is not established as JOGO’s total revenue, net income, profit, or the amount paid to Rebelo personally. The available reporting also does not establish a complete current island catalogue, current staff size, or a full company financial picture.
How does a Fortnite creator studio make money?
Epic’s platform documentation describes two relevant routes for eligible creators: engagement payouts and sales of eligible digital items inside islands. These are general Fortnite monetization mechanisms, not proof that JOGO used every route or earned a particular amount through item sales.
