The Pagani Huayra Codalunga is a long-tail, bespoke version of the Huayra Coupé, created after two collectors asked Pagani for the car in 2018. Pagani announced a run of just five tailor-made examples, all sold out, with a starting price of €7 million in June 2022. That was the launch price—not a current resale valuation—and the manufacturer’s release did not quote a dollar price.
How two collectors started the Codalunga project
According to Pagani’s account, the story began in 2018 when two collectors approached founder Horacio Pagani with a request for a long-tail Huayra Coupé. They wanted an elegant, clean design that could suit both road use and concours events. Rather than offer a standard trim package, Pagani developed the car as a tailor-made project through its Grandi Complicazioni special-projects division, with the clients involved in development. Pagani’s 2023 anniversary material also describes the car as a project created in consultation with customers.
Horacio Pagani framed the relationship behind such commissions this way: “A client is not someone who only buys from you once. A real client comes back again and again”.
What “Codalunga” means in the car’s design
Pagani presents the Codalunga as a tribute to the timeless forms of Italian coachbuilders and racing cars of the 1960s. Its defining feature is the extended, clean tail, which gives the Huayra a different silhouette from the standard Coupé. Pagani’s Italian-language model page says the engine cover exceeds 3.7 m² and is more than 360 mm longer than the Huayra Coupé’s.

The manufacturer describes a broad design inspiration rather than naming a single historic car as a direct source. The Codalunga is therefore best understood as a contemporary, client-led interpretation of 1960s coachbuilding and racing forms—not as a replica of one specific classic.
How many were made, and what did they cost?
Pagani announced a production limit of five tailor-made cars on June 16, 2022, and said all five were sold out at launch. The company gave a starting price of €7 million. The “$7 million” wording sometimes used to frame the car is rounded editorial shorthand; Pagani’s announcement stated euros, not an exact US-dollar amount.

That figure describes the announced starting price at launch. Pagani’s announcement does not establish a current resale value, and it should not be read as a price that buyers can still pay to order a new Codalunga.

What the Codalunga changes—and what the published figures do not show
The Codalunga’s established distinction from the Huayra Coupé is its bespoke long-tail body and the resulting design emphasis. Pagani’s published comparison gives the engine-cover size difference, but the cited official material does not provide an instrumented performance comparison between the two cars. The specification figures above identify the Codalunga’s configuration; they are not evidence of a tested advantage over the Coupé.
