Mark Cuban reportedly paid $19 million for a Laguna Beach home in 2018. Contemporary accounts place it in Montage Residences and describe a roughly 7,900-square-foot property with six bedrooms, ocean views and resort-style indoor-outdoor spaces. That price is the reported transaction amount—not a current valuation—and recent coverage calling the home his residence does not independently establish current ownership or occupancy.

Where the house is—and what the $19 million figure means

The Los Angeles Times reported on December 24, 2018, that Cuban had bought the contemporary-style home for $19 million. It described the property as being within Montage, a resort community overlooking the ocean, and said the house was built in 2010. The Los Angeles Times account also said it had been listed since January for $25.995 million, citing the Multiple Listing Service. That was the historical asking price before the sale, not a present listing or appraisal.

A January 2019 Orange County Business Journal report identified the location as Montage Residences, a community next to the Montage Resort & Spa that it said comprised 13 homes. The report called Cuban’s $19 million purchase the highest sale at Montage in the preceding year, attributing the comparison to listing agency Villa Real Estate. The Orange County Business Journal report also cited a monthly HOA fee of about $1,600 at that time; it should not be read as a current fee.

Reported size, rooms and amenities

Two contemporary accounts give slightly different measurements, so the figures are best kept with their sources rather than combined into a supposedly exact specification.

The Los Angeles Times described a gated courtyard, high ceilings, mahogany finishes and bi-folding glass walls that open common areas outdoors. Its account listed a center-island kitchen, two family rooms, an office or den, formal dining room, lower-level media room, wet bar and glass-enclosed wine cellar. Outside, it noted ocean views, landscaping, a swimming pool, fire pit and built-in barbecue area. These are features reported in the 2018 account, not the result of a current inspection.

The Orange County Business Journal also mentioned a floating glass staircase, media room, bar, glass-enclosed wine cellar, pool, barbecue grill and fire pit. Its description supports the broad picture of a home designed around entertaining and indoor-outdoor living, while its room and area figures remain distinct from those in the Los Angeles Times report.

Was it a vacation home?

Later profiles described the Laguna Beach property as a vacation retreat. In 2022, the Orange County Business Journal said Cuban spent about five weeks a year there, attributing the figure to Laguna Beach Magazine. The same profile reproduced Cuban’s comment to the magazine: “If you see me in Laguna, always feel free to walk up and say ‘hi.’” The article does not identify the magazine piece’s publication date. The 2022 profile is a report of past use, not proof of how often he visits now.

A July 2026 Orange County Business Journal profile continued to describe the home as a vacation retreat and said Cuban spent several weeks a year there. That is a recent published characterization, but it is not a property-record confirmation of current title or occupancy. The 2026 profile does not, in the information reported, resolve those questions.

How to verify current property records

Current ownership should not be inferred solely from articles repeating the 2018 purchase or later descriptions of the home. The City of Laguna Beach says property- and project-related documents can be searched in its records system using an address or assessor parcel number. Its Property Records Search page explains the search route; it does not itself report a result for Cuban’s residence.
