The aircraft known as “Trump Force One” is the Trump Organization’s custom Boeing 757, with a cabin the company describes as featuring 24-karat gold-plated accents, leather seating, private guestrooms and three bathrooms. CNN reported in 2021 that a Trump-sanctioned documentary said Trump paid $100 million for it. That figure is a reported purchase-price claim—not an independently verified current valuation.
Which aircraft is Trump Force One?
It is the Trump Organization’s Boeing 757, a private aircraft the company calls the “crown jewel” of its fleet. The company says it is powered by Rolls-Royce engines. “Trump Force One” is a common nickname for the aircraft, not a separate model.
The Trump Organization’s fleet description is the source for the cabin and capability details below. These are the operator’s published descriptions, rather than findings from an independent inspection or performance test.
What is inside the gold-plated cabin?
The company describes a cabin with Italian leather seats embroidered with the Trump Family crest, 24-karat gold-plated accents, two private guestrooms, three bathrooms, dining and conference areas, and an extensive entertainment system.

Reporting offers more specific examples of the finish. CNN’s 2021 account mentions gold-plated seat-belt buckles, doorknobs and faucets. In a video tour reported by The Epoch Times, Trump Organization vice president of marketing Amanda Miller said, “You’ll notice the seat belts, as well as everything else is 24-karat gold plated.” That is a company representative’s description, not an independent materials analysis.
TIME reporter Tessa Berenson’s 2016 account described gold trim on wood-paneled tables and cream-colored leather seats. Berenson recounted being told before boarding, “If it looks like gold, it is.” The line conveys the tour’s impression; it does not establish the composition of every cabin surface.

Did the jet really cost $100 million?
CNN reported that the aircraft was built in 1991 and purchased by Trump in 2010. In its 2021 report, CNN attributed the $100 million purchase figure to a Trump-sanctioned documentary about the plane. The sources cited here do not independently verify the exact purchase price, and they do not establish a current market value.
CNN also reported that similar Boeing 757s were listed for about $7 million to $10 million at the time. Those were contemporaneous asking prices in 2021, not confirmed sale prices, current estimates or a like-for-like valuation of this customized aircraft. The comparison highlights why an aircraft’s purchase-price claim should not be treated as an appraisal.

The Trump Organization says the 757 can fly up to 3,000 miles, or for eight uninterrupted hours. These are the operator’s stated capabilities; the company page does not present them as results of an independent test. They should not be read as a guarantee for every route or operating condition.

What happened to the aircraft?
In March 2021, CNN reported that the jet was sitting at an airport in upstate New York, with an engine removed or wrapped, and that records indicated it had not flown for months. CNN’s safety analyst said it appeared to have been sitting for at least a year or two. Those observations describe the situation reported in 2021; they do not establish the aircraft’s current operational status.
The same CNN report quoted aviation safety analyst David Soucie estimating that engine service could cost from the low six figures to nearly $1 million if replacement were needed. That was an expert’s estimate, not an invoice or a confirmed repair cost. The sources cited here do not establish whether the aircraft subsequently returned to service.

Quick Recap
What the headline’s $100 million does—and doesn’t—tell you
- It is a reported purchase figure: CNN attributed the $100 million amount to a Trump-sanctioned documentary.
- It is not a current valuation: the sources reviewed do not provide an independent appraisal or a present-day market price.
- The cabin details are attributed descriptions: the Trump Organization and reporters describe the gold-plated accents and layout, but the cited accounts do not independently verify the metal composition.
- Condition claims need a date: CNN’s account of the plane sitting with an engine removed or wrapped is from 2021, not confirmation of its status today.
