Ingram Micro confirmed that it found ransomware on certain internal systems on July 5, 2025, took some systems offline and began an investigation with outside cybersecurity experts. The company did not confirm that SafePay was responsible. It restored operations in stages and said it was operational across all regions where it transacted business by July 9. A January 2026 news report later attributed a 42,521-person impact figure to a company filing with Maine; that count and the reported record categories are not independently verified here against the filing itself.

What Ingram Micro confirmed

In a July 5, 2025 statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Ingram Micro Holding Corporation said: “Ingram Micro recently identified ransomware on certain of its internal systems.” The company said it proactively took some systems offline, launched an investigation with cybersecurity experts and notified law enforcement. Read the company’s SEC-filed statement.

The company’s incident page recorded further updates as its investigation and recovery progressed. These statements establish that Ingram Micro experienced a ransomware incident; they do not identify the attacker or explain how the intruder first gained access.

Was SafePay responsible?

SafePay was reported to have claimed responsibility, but the company statements and filings cited here do not establish that SafePay carried out the incident. Ingram Micro did not publicly confirm the group’s identity as the perpetrator in the materials reviewed. Nor is the group’s reported claim of data theft, or any claimed volume of stolen data, independently verified here.

The company’s July 8 update said it believed unauthorized access had been contained and affected systems remediated, while its investigation into the scope and affected data was still ongoing. That is a containment update, not a public account of the initial access path or a final determination of what information was accessed.

How Ingram Micro restored operations

Recovery was staged, with order-processing services returning through different channels before the company reported broader restoration.

What the later disclosures say about business impact

In its 2025 annual report, Ingram Micro described investigation, remediation, restoration and cybersecurity-program enhancement costs associated with the event. The company said the incident did not materially interrupt operations or materially adversely affect its business, financial condition or reputation. This is the company’s retrospective assessment of business impact; it is distinct from whether particular records were affected.

Separately, TechRadar reported on January 20, 2026, that a filing with the Maine Attorney General identified 42,521 affected individuals and that certain files involved employment and job-applicant records. The underlying filing was not independently reviewed here, so the figure and record categories should be attributed to TechRadar’s description of that filing rather than treated as independently verified. The reviewed material does not establish a fuller inventory of affected information.
