inDrive’s super-app plan is now more than a pitch: it has launched grocery delivery in Kazakhstan and Pakistan, rolled out in-app advertising in major markets, and acquired a majority stake in Pakistan’s Krave Mart. Those steps show that the ride-hailing company is expanding beyond transport. They do not yet prove it can make a profitable, durable super app.
For users, the idea is a single app with services that vary by market. For the business, the test is whether those services make one another more useful and economical—or simply add operational complexity.
What inDrive means by a super app
A super app typically brings multiple services into one digital ecosystem, often sharing an account, customer base, payments or logistics. inDrive’s version is deliberately local: rather than promise the same bundle everywhere, it says it wants to offer a market-specific mix of services and partner where it lacks expertise. Its portfolio includes ride-hailing, intercity transport, courier and delivery services, freight, groceries, driver financial products and advertising, with other services under consideration. TechCrunch’s 2025 interview with the company describes the plan as a locally adapted “bouquet” of services.
That distinction matters. A service mentioned in the company’s plans is not necessarily live in every country, and a market with two or three offerings is not necessarily operating a fully integrated super app. inDrive reported operating in 48 countries, but country count alone does not show that each service is available in each market. The company’s February 2026 figures are company-reported reach measures, not evidence of cross-service adoption or profitability.

Why add services beyond rides?
Ride-hailing is an occasional need for many customers. Groceries and other everyday services could give users more reasons to open the app, potentially improving retention and making customer acquisition more valuable. Advertising offers another possible revenue stream beyond ride commissions. These are strategic rationales, not demonstrated outcomes: the available public disclosures do not establish that groceries or ads have materially improved inDrive’s margins.
The hoped-for flywheel is straightforward: rides attract users, groceries increase usage frequency, more engagement creates advertising opportunities, and a shared app and customer relationship reduce the cost of reaching people with additional services. But every link needs proof. Users must adopt more than one service; each service must earn enough to cover its costs; and the combined offering must remain easier or more valuable than using separate specialist apps.
Groceries: the first major test
Groceries make strategic sense on paper because they are bought frequently and connect naturally to delivery and logistics. They can also create advertising inventory through sponsored products or placements. But grocery delivery is an operationally demanding business, not merely another button in an app. Fast delivery can require dark stores, inventory management, fulfillment workers and enough nearby orders to keep delivery costs under control.
Kazakhstan: an early test market
inDrive identified Kazakhstan as its first major super-app test, citing its operational and R&D presence, its role as a Central Asian hub and growing consumer digitization. The grocery service launched in 2025 with more than 5,000 products and a stated 15-minute delivery promise. The company reported an early pilot net promoter score (NPS) of 83% and roughly five grocery orders per user per month. Those are company-reported pilot results; the published account does not specify the sample size, pilot duration, subsidy level or whether the figures persisted after launch. TechCrunch’s report on the launch does not provide the service’s order margins, delivery cost or retention against ride-only users.

Those missing economics are central. Repeat orders and satisfaction can indicate demand, but they do not show whether an order is profitable or whether users would stay without discounts. inDrive has not publicly disclosed the detailed grocery figures needed to assess average order value, contribution margin, customer acquisition cost or dark-store utilization.
Pakistan: a partnership followed by a majority investment
On January 12, 2026, inDrive announced grocery delivery in Karachi with Krave Mart, offering more than 7,500 grocery and ready-to-eat products through Krave Mart’s dark-store network. These product and service details come from inDrive’s launch announcement.
In March 2026, inDrive acquired a majority stake in Krave Mart. Pakistan’s Competition Commission authorized the transaction under its merger-review process; the financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition gives inDrive a local operating capability and signals a willingness to own part of a service rather than rely only on partnership. It is evidence of commitment, not proof that the combined business will succeed. Integrating technology, teams, brands and operating systems can create as much difficulty as it removes. TechCrunch’s acquisition report and the Competition Commission’s announcement confirm the deal and approval.

Advertising adds a different kind of revenue
inDrive has been rolling out in-app advertising across major markets, with initial placements appearing after a ride is booked, while a passenger waits for pickup and during a trip. The rollout was reported in January 2026 by TechCrunch, which described in-app formats as a priority through 2026. In-car and vehicle advertising were longer-term possibilities, not the immediate focus.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe business case is to monetize attention that otherwise produces no direct revenue. More frequent grocery use could create more opportunities for ads than ride-hailing alone. But advertising can also undermine the experience if it clutters the app or feels intrusive. The cited reporting does not establish what data is used for targeting, whether ads are personalized, what controls users have, or whether they can opt out. Those details matter particularly if mobility, location, purchase or financial data could inform ad delivery.
Financial services and AI remain market-specific ambitions
inDrive has offered driver loans in some markets, including Brazil and Mexico, according to its executive interview with TechCrunch. The company’s 2025 recap said inDrive.Money was available in Mexico and Colombia and had expanded to Brazil, Indonesia and Peru. That is a company-reported rollout; product availability, eligibility and terms may differ by country. The company’s 2025 recap also describes its broader mix of mobility, delivery, courier and freight services.

The company has discussed extending financial products to passengers and small businesses, but plans should not be confused with live products. Lending involves local licensing, underwriting, consumer-protection, privacy and collections requirements. It can deepen engagement, but poor credit decisions or unsuitable products could damage trust, especially among price-sensitive users. The available information does not establish that inDrive is a licensed lender in every market where it operates; financial products need to be assessed country by country.
inDrive’s growth leadership has also described AI as a potential tool for personalization, service discovery and accessibility for people with disabilities or lower literacy. These are stated objectives rather than demonstrated capabilities in the cited material. The company has not detailed which AI features are live, how they affect recommendations or support, or how it evaluates accuracy and accessibility.

Why the model may not travel easily
Local adaptation may make the service mix more relevant, but it complicates execution. Every market can require different merchants, payment methods, logistics, customer support, financial rules and approvals. A company cannot assume that a ride-hailing network will automatically provide the right supply, expertise or economics for groceries, lending or freight.

- BATTERY LIFE: Long-lasting 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging technology delivers hours of power in minutes.
- Grocery economics: low basket values, spoilage, inventory costs and insufficient delivery density can turn a high-frequency service into a loss-making one.
- Cross-selling: a large ride audience does not prove that riders will use groceries, ads or financial services. The company has not disclosed multi-service conversion rates.
- Trust: confidence in a ride booking may not transfer to fresh-food quality, money handling or lending.
- Competition: local specialists may have stronger merchant relationships, logistics or customer habits in each category.
- Regulation: transport, delivery, advertising, data use and credit can each trigger different local requirements.
- Product complexity: adding services can make an app harder to navigate rather than more useful.
Super-app ambitions elsewhere show why adding categories is not enough. WeChat and Gojek are often cited as examples of broader ecosystems, while other attempts have struggled to make adjacent services work. The relevant lesson is not that one template guarantees success; it is that users must find the combined experience useful and the underlying businesses must reinforce one another. TechCrunch’s coverage discusses those comparisons and the operational hurdles.
India is a warning against assuming repeatable success
inDrive’s model has not performed uniformly across markets. In 2025, TechCrunch reported that inDrive downloads in India were down 22.6% year to date during the comparison period, while Uber, Ola and Rapido grew. inDrive described India as a “puzzle” and said it was focusing on selected cities and testing alternatives, including freight and different driver-payment models. The figure is a download trend for the period reported, not a measure of rides, revenue or market share.
The same reporting described safety concerns raised by riders and drivers in India, including complaints about aggressive haggling and misuse of the bidding system. The company acknowledged a need to improve communication, education and safety perception. This is a market-specific account, not evidence that the same experience applies everywhere. It does, however, highlight a tension in the model: fare negotiation can support affordability and choice, but it can also introduce friction and uncertainty.
What would prove the strategy is working?
Downloads, city counts and transaction totals show reach, not whether a multi-service business is healthy. inDrive said it had more than 400 million downloads, operated in 1,065 cities and had handled 8 billion transactions by February 2026; the company also said it was the second-most-downloaded ride-hailing app for the fourth consecutive year, citing Sensor Tower. These are company-reported figures, with the download ranking attributed to Sensor Tower. They do not disclose profitability by service or whether users regularly cross between categories. inDrive’s February 2026 announcement provides the figures.
Stronger evidence would include:
- the share of active users who use multiple services, and whether that share grows;
- grocery repeat rates and average order values, with subsidies identified;
- contribution margin after fulfillment and delivery costs;
- customer acquisition and retention compared with ride-only users;
- driver, courier and merchant retention and earnings;
- advertising revenue and its effect on the user experience;
- financial-product eligibility, terms, compliance and repayment performance by market.
Most of these measures have not been disclosed in the cited material. Without them, it is not possible to distinguish an expanding menu from an economically reinforcing ecosystem.
Where the strategy stands
inDrive has moved beyond announcing a super-app ambition: grocery services in Kazakhstan and Pakistan, advertising expansion and the Krave Mart majority acquisition are tangible steps. The company’s locally tailored approach may be more practical than imposing an identical bundle worldwide, but it also makes execution and comparison harder. The unresolved question is whether these services can increase engagement and revenue without eroding affordability, trust or operating discipline. Until cross-service adoption and service-level economics are clearer, inDrive is best described as building toward a super app—not as having proved one.
