Chrome’s Store reviews feature gives U.S. shoppers an AI-generated summary of customer feedback about some online retailers. It can surface patterns in shipping, returns, customer service, pricing and product quality—but it describes the store’s reputation, not necessarily the item you are considering. Treat it as a quick screening tool, then check the underlying reviews and the retailer’s policies before paying.
What Chrome Store reviews summarizes
Google announced Store reviews for Chrome in the United States on July 28, 2025. Google says the feature draws on Google Shopping and other popular review websites to summarize customer feedback about supported online stores. The summary may cover customer service, product quality, shipping, pricing and returns. Google’s announcement describes the feature and the review topics it covers.
The distinction between a store and a product matters. A retailer-level summary can help you spot complaints about late deliveries or difficult refunds, but it does not establish that a particular product is authentic, safe, compatible, durable or fairly priced. A store can have good service reviews while selling an item that is a poor fit; a low store rating may reflect fulfillment or customer-service problems rather than the item itself.
Google does not specify every review source, how sources are weighted, how recent the feedback must be, how review manipulation is handled, or how many reviews are needed for a summary. The result should not be treated as a complete survey of customers or as independent verification of every review.

How to open a Store reviews summary
These are the steps in Google’s Chrome Help instructions checked August 18, 2026. They describe the desktop address-bar control; Google’s documentation does not specify a minimum Chrome version.
- Open Chrome on a computer and visit the online store.
- Select View site information, the control to the left of the address bar.
- Select Store reviews to read the generated summary.
- Select View all [total number] reviews to inspect the underlying review information.
- Use the feedback control in the panel if the summary was helpful or inaccurate.
The labels or icons may change in later Chrome releases. Google’s current instructions are at Chrome Help: Store reviews.

Who can use it, and why it may be missing
Google’s current support documentation lists two conditions: you must be in the United States and have Make searches and browsing better turned on. Store reviews are not available on every e-commerce website. The help page does not say that a Google Account is required for this feature.
If the option does not appear, it does not by itself mean the retailer is unsafe. The site may not be supported or recognized as an online store, the feature may not have review information for it, or you may be outside the supported region or have the required setting turned off. Chrome’s interface or the feature’s availability may also change.

To check the setting, open Chrome’s settings and look for Make searches and browsing better; the exact settings path can vary by Chrome release. If you prefer not to enable it, you may not be able to use Store reviews. Do not confuse this requirement with the separate sign-in and synced-history requirements Google lists for Shopping Insights.
How to use the summary before buying
Use the panel to decide what to investigate, not to make the purchase decision for you. A summary can compress context, overlook an unusual but serious complaint, or fail to reflect a recent change in the retailer’s ownership, suppliers or service. Review counts and ratings can also differ across platforms.

- Look for recurring problems. Open the underlying reviews and watch for repeated complaints about refund delays, counterfeit goods, unexpected fees, damaged deliveries or unresponsive support.
- Pay attention to recency. Older praise may not describe the store’s current operation, especially if recent reviews show a different pattern.
- Check the exact seller and listing. On a marketplace, identify who is selling and fulfilling the item. A marketplace-wide or store-level summary may not evaluate an individual third-party seller.
- Read the return and warranty terms. Check the retailer’s policy directly and verify warranty coverage or authorized-seller status when those details matter.
- Compare the full price and delivery terms. Include shipping, fees and return costs rather than judging only the listed price.
- Verify the website address. Make sure you are on the retailer’s genuine domain before entering payment details.
- Use payment protection. Choose a payment method that offers a way to dispute an unauthorized or undelivered purchase.
For expensive electronics, appliances, jewelry, supplements or safety-related goods, also check manufacturer documentation, independent product testing and relevant safety information. For a product’s performance, seek reviews of the exact model or SKU; a store summary is not a substitute.
