What the 910-post announcement covered
INCET-01/2023 was the Indian Navy’s Civilian Entrance Test recruitment for civilian roles. Scroll reported 910 vacancies in the original announcement: 42 Chargeman posts, 258 Senior Draughtsman posts and 610 Tradesman Mate posts. Scroll’s 2023 report covered the opening of registration.

In a 2024 amendment, the Indian Navy listed 768 Tradesman Mate vacancies, distributed as 47 for Eastern Naval Command, 685 for Western Naval Command and 36 for Southern Naval Command. The amendment says the distribution is subject to variation. If the original Chargeman and Senior Draughtsman counts remained unchanged, adding them to the amended Tradesman Mate figure produces 1,068; that is a calculation, not a confirmed revised total. When applications were open—and the historical application steps
The application period opened on 18 December 2023 and closed on 31 December 2023. There is no active INCET-01/2023 application window, so the steps below describe the historical process rather than a route to apply now.

- Visit the Indian Navy recruitment website.
- Navigate through “Join Navy” → “Ways to Join” → “Civilians” → “INCET-01/2023.”
- Register, then complete the online application form.
- Upload the documents requested in the form.
- Pay the applicable fee, if any, and submit the application.
- Download and keep a copy of the submitted application.
Contemporaneous reporting listed an examination fee of ₹295, with exemptions for SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and women candidates. That fee information applies to the 2023 notice and should not be assumed to apply to a later recruitment.
Posts and eligibility depended on the role
The notice covered Chargeman (Ammunition Workshop), Chargeman (Factory), Senior Draughtsman roles in Electrical, Mechanical, Construction, Cartographic and Armament disciplines, and Tradesman Mate. Eligibility was not uniform across these posts.

- Chargeman: The reported pathways included a relevant science degree or a specified engineering diploma.
- Senior Draughtsman: Eligibility included education, draughtsmanship training or relevant experience pathways, depending on the discipline.
- Age: Reported limits varied by role. Some posts had an 18–25 range, while Senior Draughtsman disciplines included an 18–27 range.
These broad descriptions are not enough to determine an individual candidate’s eligibility. For exact qualifications, age cutoffs, relaxations, reservations and any physical criteria, consult the relevant post entry in the original notice. Selected candidates were generally associated with the relevant Naval Command, but the notice allowed posting anywhere in India according to administrative requirements.
