Shortlisted candidates were asked to complete document verification by April 21, 2023. That deadline has passed; this is a historical result, not an open verification notice.
Which 2023 GDS merit list is this?
This refers to the second merit list for the earlier 2023 GDS recruitment, reported by The Times of India. It is not the separate Schedule-II recruitment drive announced later in July 2023. A September report about that later drive called its first shortlist “List-I,” so the two cycles and their lists should not be confused. The July-cycle report and the September shortlist report concern that later recruitment.
How to check the second merit list
The result was made available as a PDF through the official India Post GDS portal, with results organized by state or postal circle. The portal’s archived lists are grouped by circle, and links or availability may change over time.
- Open the official India Post GDS portal.
- Choose the relevant state or postal circle and open the result PDF for the second list.
- Search the PDF for your name or application number, then save a copy for your records.
Use the official portal as the result destination rather than relying on an unofficial PDF mirror.

What shortlisted candidates were told to do
The April 2023 notice instructed candidates on the list to contact the Divisional Head named against their entry and attend document verification by April 21, 2023. They were asked to bring their original documents and two sets of self-attested photocopies. These were instructions for that recruitment round; the stated deadline is historical and is not a current verification window. The Times of India’s April report gives those details.
How the merit list was prepared
The contemporary result report said selection was based on Class 10 board examination marks. The available material does not establish a verified candidate-specific cutoff or a single score that guaranteed selection across postal circles and categories. Do not treat an unofficial general cutoff as confirmation of an individual result. The result report’s explanation identifies the stated merit basis.

Watch for payment requests
The official portal warns: “Department of Posts does not make any phone calls/SMS to the candidates for depositing any money.” Treat calls or messages asking for payment in connection with the result with caution. The warning appears on the Department of Posts portal.
