SEBI’s available scheme document is still a draft and leaves the new fund offer (NFO) dates blank. A secondary listing reports an October 12–19, 2026 NFO window, but investors should confirm the dates and final terms in an ICICI Prudential AMC notice before acting.
What is the ICICI Prudential Nifty Pharma ETF?
It is a proposed sector-focused ETF from ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund. The draft Scheme Information Document (SID) says the scheme would seek returns, before expenses, that closely correspond to the total returns of the Nifty Pharma Index, subject to tracking error. In practical terms, it is designed to provide exposure to companies represented in that index, rather than to a broad range of Indian market sectors.

The filing is listed by SEBI as a draft mutual-fund filing dated May 18, 2026 (SEBI filing page). The draft SID describes the proposed product and its mechanics; it is not a substitute for the final scheme documents.
When can investors apply?
The draft SID leaves the NFO opening and closing date fields blank. Infinity Wealth’s listing reports an opening date of October 12, 2026, and a closing date of October 19, 2026 (Infinity Wealth NFO listing). A DSIJ report dated October 9, 2026, also reports those dates and identifies the Nifty Pharma Index as the benchmark (DSIJ report).

Those dates are secondary reporting, not dates established in the retrieved SEBI draft. Check the AMC’s final NFO notice and finalized SID for confirmed dates, application instructions, and any eligibility or subscription conditions before investing.
How the proposed ETF would work
An ETF is bought and sold on a stock exchange after listing, much like a share. The draft also describes offers and creation units, the large blocks used in ETF creation and redemption. These are proposed terms and may be clarified or changed in final documents.

- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
- Creation-unit size: 240,000 units and multiples thereof, according to the draft SID.
- Draft NFO pricing basis: units at one-thousandth of the Nifty Pharma Index closing value on the allotment date.
- Draft ongoing offer basis: approximately indicative NAV-based prices, with applicable charges and possible execution variations.
These details do not establish the final exchange listing date, trading arrangements, market-making support, or whether ongoing creation and redemption will be available without restrictions. Confirm those points in the final SID and AMC notices.

The fund’s stated aim is to track the index’s total return before expenses; it does not promise to match the index exactly or to deliver a positive return. Tracking error can cause fund returns to differ from index returns. Expenses and the way the portfolio is managed can also affect the investor’s result.

The draft SID expressly says: “However, there can be no assurance or guarantee that the investment objective of the Scheme would be achieved.” The objective is therefore an aim, not a guaranteed outcome.

Concentration versus broad diversification
A pharma-sector ETF focuses on one industry. Its performance can diverge substantially from a broad-market fund, and exposure to a single sector does not provide the same diversification across industries. Consider whether a targeted pharma allocation fits your overall portfolio and risk tolerance.
Rank #4
ETF versus index mutual fund
Both an ETF and an index mutual fund can seek to track an index, but they are accessed differently. ETF units trade on an exchange, so the price you receive can be affected by trading liquidity and the bid-ask spread. An index mutual fund is generally transacted through the fund at its applicable NAV. The AMC’s passive-fund listing dated July 31, 2026, includes an existing ICICI Prudential Nifty Pharma Index Fund, but its listed ETF range at that time did not include this Nifty Pharma ETF (ICICI Prudential AMC passive-fund listing).

The draft material cited here does not establish the ETF’s final total expense ratio or actual tracking difference/error after launch. Compare the final expense ratio and subsequent tracking record with alternatives once those figures are available; do not infer them from the fund’s stated objective.

Trading liquidity
After listing, check trading volume and the bid-ask spread before placing an order. A wider spread can increase the cost of entering or exiting a position. The available draft does not establish post-listing liquidity.
