The notice offered 1,010 apprenticeship training slots, not permanent jobs or guaranteed employment. The 2024 dates and terms are historical, and the application link should not be treated as active.
What happened to the ICF Chennai Apprentice 2024 deadline?
ICF opened online applications on 22 May 2024 at 09:30 and closed them on 21 June 2024 at 17:30, according to the 2024 notification. That deadline has passed. The application window was through the ICF portal; there is no basis to assume the 2024 form remains available.

A separate secondary listing for a 2026 ICF apprentice intake gave 7 September 2026 as its closing date. That date has also passed, and the listing does not establish whether another official ICF application cycle is open. Check the ICF Act Apprentice portal for current notices rather than relying on old deadline reports.
How many slots were offered, and in which trades?
The 2024 program advertised 1,010 slots. The official notice divides the main intake into 320 fresher slots and 670 Ex-ITI slots, alongside specified medical-lab and PASAA positions included in the overall total. Hindustan Times reported this trade-wise breakdown:

Who was eligible?
The published eligibility summary distinguished applicants without prior ITI training from Ex-ITI applicants. The exact trade, qualification and category rules should be checked in the original notification before relying on a summary.
Freshers
For fresher applicants, the reported minimum was Class 10 with at least 50% aggregate marks. The reported age range was 15–24 years as of 21 June 2024. The notice excluded candidates who had already completed an Act Apprenticeship course and engineering degree or diploma holders.
Ex-ITI applicants
Ex-ITI applicants were reported to need Class 10 with at least 50% aggregate marks and a relevant NCVT/SCVT National Trade Certificate. Trade relevance matters: a certificate should not be assumed to qualify for every listed trade.

Age relaxations
The reported upper-age relaxations were three years for OBC candidates, five years for SC/ST candidates and ten years for PwBD candidates. These figures relate to the 2024 intake and its 21 June 2024 age reference date, not a future recruitment cycle. See the Scroll eligibility summary and verify category documentation and detailed conditions against the official notice.

Scroll and Hindustan Times reported the following monthly stipend amounts for the 2024 training intake:
| Applicant category | Reported monthly stipend |
|---|---|
| Fresher, Class 10 pass-out | ₹6,000 |
| Fresher, Class 12 pass-out | ₹7,000 |
| Ex-ITI certificate holder | ₹7,000 |
These are reported amounts for the 2024 intake, not a statement of current stipend terms. Check the notification for the applicable training conditions.
Was there an application fee?
Reports described a ₹100 fee, but differ in how they state service charges and exemptions. Scroll called it a non-refundable online fee and listed exemptions for female, SC/ST and PwD applicants; Hindustan Times reported ₹100 plus applicable service charges and listed exemptions for SC/ST, PwBD and women. Because the wording differs, consult the official 2024 notification for the precise fee and exemption terms rather than relying on a secondary summary.
Was this a railway job?
No. The official notice describes engagement for apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and states: “This notification is purely for giving Apprenticeship training and not for employment.” A training slot should not be presented as a permanent post, a job offer or a guarantee of employment after training. The available sources do not establish placement rates or later employment outcomes for this intake.
Where should applicants look now?
For any later intake, use the current official ICF Act Apprentice portal and read the relevant notification for dates, trade vacancies, qualifications, category rules, fees and training terms. The reproduced 2024 PDF is a mirror of the ICF notice rather than a file retrieved directly from ICF, so it is useful as a historical record but not evidence that applications are open now.
