In an Instagram video reported by Hindustan Times in 2026, Panwar said the financial loss was accompanied by shame about people seeing her “go backwards” after public success.
What Sofia Panwar said happened
Panwar said she was on her way to a Universal Credit appointment when she recorded the video. “I’m on my way to my Universal Credit meeting. Yes, this is after Forbes. This is after building a 7-figure business. This is after all of that, because my business left me with nothing… I have no money,” she said.

Her account presents the immediate problem as a loss of personal financial security after liquidating the company she had built. The statement does not give an audited revenue figure, a detailed balance sheet, the amount recovered through liquidation, or the value of any debts or assets. “Seven-figure business” is the description Panwar gave, as reported by Hindustan Times; it is not a independently verified figure in the available account.
Panwar’s business and public profile
Panwar founded Unndr, a UK-based lingerie subscription service, in 2021 with a co-founder. Both were listed on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list for Retail and E-commerce, according to the report. Panwar’s LinkedIn profile indicated that she was associated with the brand until July 2026.

That sequence matters because her disclosure contrasts a highly visible achievement with a private financial emergency. Recognition on a prominent young-business list did not provide a permanent guarantee of income, savings or liquidity once the company was liquidated.

Why Universal Credit is part of the story
Universal Credit is a UK social-security benefit for people on low income, out of work or unable to work. Payments are generally made monthly and are intended to help with basic living and, where applicable, housing costs. Eligibility and payment levels depend on an applicant’s circumstances; Panwar’s video does not state whether she had been awarded a payment, how much she might receive, or how long any claim would last.

Therefore, attending a meeting should not be read as proof of a finalized award. It does show that Panwar was seeking access to the UK’s income-support system after the company’s liquidation.
The embarrassment she said was harder than the money
Panwar said the emotional burden went beyond the immediate financial reality. “I think the hardest part isn’t even the financial reality of it. It’s the shame that can come with feeling like you’ve gone backwards,” she said. She also described “the embarrassment of people knowing” and “the voice in your head telling you that you should have it all figured out by now.”

Her comments identify a social dimension to business failure: the fear that former colleagues, investors, friends or followers will interpret a loss as a personal regression. The public markers of success—an award-list appearance and a business described as seven-figure—can make a later need for assistance feel especially exposed. Panwar did not claim that every founder experiences failure this way; she described her own response.
Why she chose to disclose the setback
Panwar said she had debated posting for months because she expected to share a comeback story instead. She framed the video as an effort to destigmatize setbacks and to show the difficult period between a loss and a recovery, rather than presenting a polished result after everything had been repaired.
Rank #4
She said people may be privately dealing with losses involving businesses, employment, relationships, money, confidence or an expected way of life. That broader message is an interpretation she offered alongside her personal account, not evidence that her financial circumstances are typical of all entrepreneurs or that public recognition predicts a particular outcome.

- The precise revenue represented by “seven-figure business” is not stated.
- No independently audited liquidation proceeds, personal balance, debt total or loss amount is provided.
- The report does not state whether Panwar received Universal Credit, the amount of any award, or the result of her appointment.
- Her video does not establish the company’s complete financial history or explain every reason the business was liquidated.
Those limits are important. Panwar’s words document a personal account of financial collapse and the shame surrounding it; they do not amount to a full financial audit of Unndr.

Her message about what comes next
Panwar ended on a deliberately provisional note: “This chapter is uncomfortable, humbling and sometimes heartbreaking. But it’s still only a chapter.” The line places the Universal Credit meeting and the loss of financial security within an unfinished recovery, rather than treating either public success or present hardship as a permanent identity.
