Huddersfield Town’s latest reported whole-club wage expense is £16.9 million for 2024–25, the year ended 30 June 2025. That is an accounts figure, not the club’s current first-team payroll. For 2026–27, Capology estimates £12.48 million in annual gross fixed first-team wages, excluding bonuses, and lists Marcus McGuane as its highest estimated earner. SalarySport gives a different 2026 estimate and names Alfie May instead, so a definitive current highest-paid player cannot be established from these public estimates.
What is Huddersfield Town’s latest reported wage bill?
BBC Sport reported that Huddersfield Town recorded £16.9 million in wages for 2024–25, based on the club’s accounts. The group accounts cover the year ended 30 June 2025 and were filed at Companies House on 9 April 2026. See BBC Sport’s report and the Companies House filing history.
This is a whole-club accounting expense, not a published total of first-team player salaries. It should not be treated as Huddersfield’s live wage bill for 2026–27 or compared directly with a third-party estimate of first-team wages.
What are the current-season wage estimates?
Public salary sites publish estimates rather than official individual salary disclosures. Their totals differ in season convention and scope, so they are best read as separate estimates rather than as competing accounts figures.

| Source and season | Reported amount | Scope and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| BBC Sport, 2024–25 | £16.9 million | Wages reported from the club’s accounts; whole-club accounting figure. |
| Capology, 2026–27 | £12.48 million per year | Estimated gross fixed first-team wages; bonuses excluded. Capology says estimates are not official and are not equivalent to personnel costs in official financial statements. |
| SalarySport, 2026 | £11,248,120 per year | SalarySport’s estimated annual wage bill using its 2026 page and season convention. |
Capology’s Huddersfield Town salary page also cautions that historical coverage may be incomplete. SalarySport’s separate 2026 page uses a different estimate and does not establish an official total.
Who is Huddersfield Town’s current highest earner?
The available estimates disagree. Capology names Marcus McGuane as the highest estimated earner for 2026–27; SalarySport names Alfie May on its 2026 page and estimates his pay at £16,000 per week. Neither amount or ranking is confirmed as an official club disclosure, so the evidence does not support naming one player definitively as the current highest-paid member of the squad.
The difference between the two sites is a reason to preserve the source label and date whenever quoting a salary estimate, not to average the figures or treat one as verified.

How does the 2024–25 squad estimate differ from the accounts figure?
SalarySport’s 2024–25 archive estimated squad wages at £223,005 per week and listed Bali Mumba at £23,000 per week. Those are player-level and squad estimates, not the same measure as the £16.9 million accounts-reported whole-club wages. The archive is available at SalarySport’s 2024–25 Huddersfield Town page.
What do the wage figures say about the club’s finances?
BBC Sport also reported a £22.4 million pre-tax loss for 2024–25 and wages equal to 159% of revenue for that year. Those figures describe the same accounts period as the £16.9 million wage expense; they do not provide a current-season payroll measure.
