Short answer: The HP Envy Laptop 17 deal was genuine when it ran during Walmart’s Super Savings Week in March 2025. The advertised configuration, model HP Envy Laptop 17-cw1097nr, fell from $1,849 to $1,349—a $500, or roughly 27%, reduction. It should not be treated as a live promotion now: current availability and pricing were not verified as of August 18, 2026.
Laptop Mag reported the deal on March 26, 2025, and said HP offered the same price at the time. That historical price is still a useful benchmark, but it does not prove that Walmart or HP currently sells the same laptop.

Why the $1,349 price was attractive
This configuration combined features that are not always found together in a large Windows laptop at that price: a 17.3-inch 4K screen, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, dedicated NVIDIA graphics, Windows 11 Pro and a broad port selection.

These are capability-based conclusions from the listed hardware, not benchmark results. Laptop Mag stated that it had not tested this exact laptop, so there is no independent evidence here for battery life, fan noise, thermals, display response or gaming performance.

It is a large, less-portable laptop
A 17.3-inch computer is better suited to a desk or occasional carrying than to daily commuting. Even if its weight is acceptable for its size, it will be less convenient than a 13-, 14- or 15-inch laptop.

4K and dedicated graphics can pressure battery life
A bright 4K panel and discrete GPU can demand more power than a lower-resolution display using integrated graphics. The available evidence does not include battery testing, so do not assume all-day unplugged use.
The RTX 3050 is not modern high-end gaming hardware
The RTX 3050 makes the Envy more capable than an integrated-graphics laptop and should support casual or moderate gaming, but it is an older entry-level discrete GPU by 2026 standards. Buyers seeking demanding modern games, high refresh rates or maximum settings should look for a newer graphics platform.

The processor is efficient, not a workstation-class chip
The Core Ultra 7 155U is designed as a power-efficient mobile processor. It should suit productivity and many creator workloads, but it is not equivalent to a high-wattage HX processor intended for sustained workstation or gaming performance.

What to check before buying a current listing
The historical Walmart listing can be found here, but a product page alone does not establish that the same deal remains active. Before placing an order:

- Confirm that the model or SKU is HP Envy Laptop 17-cw1097nr.
- Match the CPU, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 3050, Windows edition and 4K display.
- Check whether Walmart or a third-party marketplace seller is offering the laptop.
- Review the condition, fulfillment method, shipping, return window and warranty terms.
- Compare the price with newer laptops offering more recent processors, RTX 4050/4060-class graphics, OLED panels or improved battery efficiency.
Do not assume that a cheaper listing is the same laptop, and do not assume that a historical $500 reduction is still available.
The Bottom Line
At $1,349, the HP Envy Laptop 17-cw1097nr was a compelling large-screen productivity deal because it paired a 4K display, 32GB of RAM, 1TB storage and dedicated graphics. In 2026, however, the deal is historical and its current availability is unverified. Buy only if the exact configuration is available at a similarly steep discount and newer laptops do not offer materially better graphics, battery life or display technology for the same money.
