For the 2025–26 season, FBref’s table, which attributes its wage data to Capology and labels it unverified, estimates Dan James at £75,000 a week and Willy Gnonto at £40,000 a week. A separate Leeds United wage report puts James at the same figure but estimates Gnonto at £30,000 a week. These are published estimates—not confirmed contractual pay.

FBref describes the 2025–26 wage entries as unverified estimates and attributes them to Capology. How large is the estimated pay gap?
Using the like-for-like figures in FBref’s 2025–26 table, James is estimated to earn £35,000 more per week than Gnonto. That equates to £1.82 million annualized using the same 52-week calculation.
Using Leeds United News’s estimates, the weekly difference is £45,000, or £2.34 million annualized. The difference between the two reports comes from their Gnonto estimates: £40,000 a week in the FBref/Capology table versus £30,000 in Leeds United News. Both reports put James at £75,000 a week. Why contract listings do not settle the discrepancy
Capology’s contract-extension listing shows an updated James contract dated July 14, 2025, running through June 30, 2029, with an £80,000 weekly estimate. It lists a Gnonto update dated August 31, 2024, through June 30, 2028, with a £30,000 weekly estimate. The listing does not explain how those figures relate to the 2025–26 wage-table entries, so they should not be combined with the table as if they were one definitive salary comparison. The Football Association’s agent-transactions file records an updated contract transaction for Daniel Owen James at Leeds United, but does not state a wage.
