Coventry City owner Doug King’s personal net worth is not established by the public sources reviewed. A frequently cited figure—more than $400 million (£337 million)—describes investments overseen by his firm, RCMA Capital LLP, according to BBC Sport in 2023. It is not an estimate of King’s personal fortune.
What is known about Doug King’s wealth?

BBC Sport reported in January 2023 that King co-founded RCMA Capital LLP and remained its majority owner. The same report said the firm had overseen investments of more than $400 million (£337 million). That is a firm-level figure for investments overseen—not money shown to belong to King personally, and not a valuation of his net worth. BBC Sport’s profile of King also described his work in trading grains, non-grain feeds and petroleum, and said he was chief executive of oilseed processor Yelo Enterprises.
What does Coventry City ownership tell us?
BBC Sport reported on 10 January 2023 that King completed the purchase of an 85% majority share after EFL approval; the club said the deal would clear its debts. Later that month, King bought the remaining 15%, giving him full ownership. BBC Sport quoted him saying that future club funding through loans would not bear interest while he owned the club. These reports establish his ownership and a statement about the terms of future loans, but do not reveal how much he invested or what the club is worth. Does the CBS Arena purchase indicate King’s personal fortune?
No. Coventry City completed its purchase of the CBS Arena on 23 August 2025, according to a BBC report published that December. The arena is relevant to the club’s assets, but a club asset is not automatically a personal asset of its owner. The transaction alone cannot establish how much King paid from personal funds, whether financing was used, or what share of the asset should be attributed to him personally. What do company records confirm?
Companies House records Douglas Richard John King as a director of Coventry City Football Club Limited from 10 January 2023 and CovCityCo Ltd from 29 November 2022. Those filings support the existence of recorded corporate roles, not a calculation of personal wealth. Companies House also cautions that it does not check the accuracy of information filed. King’s Companies House appointments list the recorded appointments.
Why a precise net-worth figure would be misleading
A defensible net-worth estimate would need to identify King’s personal assets and liabilities, including his actual stakes in businesses and any relevant debts.
