To view crypto transaction history, first identify where the activity happened. Use the exchange account for exchange orders, trades, deposits, and withdrawals; use your wallet’s Activity screen for wallet activity; and use a blockchain explorer for public on-chain details. For an export, use the exchange’s statements or export tools—many wallet apps do not provide a built-in history file.
Choose the right place to look
Crypto activity is recorded in more than one place, and the records answer different questions. An exchange account is the source for orders and account transfers recorded by that exchange. A self-custody wallet shows activity associated with the wallet, while a blockchain explorer shows public transactions on a particular network.
- Find a trade or order: start with the exchange where you placed it.
- Find a deposit or withdrawal: check the exchange’s transfer history or the wallet’s Activity screen, depending on which side you need to inspect.
- Verify a wallet transaction on-chain: use an explorer for the same blockchain as the transaction.
- Get records for bookkeeping or taxes: look for an exchange statement or export, or check whether your wallet supports an export.
An explorer will not show an exchange’s internal order records, and an exchange’s account history is not a complete view of public activity for a self-custody wallet.

MetaMask
- Open MetaMask and select the account or network you want to inspect.
- Open the account’s Activity tab. MetaMask says submitted transactions appear there.
- Search or filter by transaction type, token, or network, then select a transaction to see its details. The available controls may differ by device and interface.
On mobile, MetaMask’s instructions describe opening a token’s activity list or tapping the clock icon. In MetaMask Portfolio, switch to the transaction view and select a transaction. See MetaMask’s instructions for finding transactions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Check the transaction in a block explorer
Use the explorer for the network shown in MetaMask or in the transaction details. For example, MetaMask points to Etherscan for Ethereum and BscScan for BNB Smart Chain (BSC). Open the matching explorer, paste the public wallet address into its search field, and find the transaction in the resulting activity list. A transaction hash can also be used to look up a specific transaction on its network.
Explorer pages can be technical, but you generally need only confirm that the address and network match and open the relevant transaction for its public details. Do not enter a Secret Recovery Phrase into an explorer or share it with anyone.

Find activity in a crypto exchange account
Exchange menus vary by product. Coinbase’s guidance, for example, describes both Coinbase Exchange account records and a separate transaction-history interface; the labels below apply to the specific product pages cited, not necessarily every Coinbase account.
Coinbase Exchange
- Orders: review open or filled orders.
- Portfolios: open the relevant portfolio and use its Deposits, Withdrawals, or Balances tabs to inspect transfer or balance activity.
- Account Statements: review order and transfer history.
- Fills Statements: inspect the individual fills that make up larger orders.
- Balance Statements: view a balance snapshot for the requested time.
Coinbase transaction-history interface
In the transaction-history instructions for its other interface, Coinbase describes filtering by type, status, asset, or date and selecting a transaction to view details such as its reference code, payment method, or fee. Follow the instructions for the Coinbase product you use; account screens and available records are not interchangeable. See Coinbase Exchange account history and reports and Coinbase’s transaction-history instructions.

Kraken
Kraken’s Documents Center export options include Account Statement, Trades, Ledgers, and Balances. Ledgers include deposits, withdrawals, fees, and other balance changes; trades contain execution information; balances are snapshots. Kraken says a direct Order History export is not available, though a Trades export can help reconstruct order activity. Its guide was last updated May 29, 2026. See Kraken’s account-history export guide.
Binance
Binance’s guide dated July 6, 2021 describes this export sequence: open Transaction History, choose Export Transaction Records, select a date range, account, and coin, generate the statement, and download it. That guide says ranges longer than one year may require multiple reports, generation is limited to up to 15 times per month, and download links remain available for seven days. These are operational limits stated in that dated guide, not guaranteed current limits; check the current Binance interface before relying on them. See Binance’s transaction-history export instructions.

Export records when you need a file
Before downloading, decide which record you need. An order record, a detailed trade execution, a transfer ledger, and a balance snapshot are different outputs. Check the export’s date range, assets, account scope, and included activity so the file covers the records you intend to keep.
MetaMask says it does not have a built-in CSV or PDF transaction-history export. Its tax-reporting guidance points users to a relevant explorer export or a third-party tax tool. Review a third-party service’s security before connecting it, and never provide your Secret Recovery Phrase. See MetaMask’s guidance on downloading transaction history for tax reporting.

If you cannot find a transaction
- Check the network: an explorer for another chain will not show the transaction. Match the network in your wallet or transaction details.
- Check the account or asset: confirm you are looking at the right wallet account, exchange account, portfolio, or coin.
- Use the right kind of history: look in Orders or Trades for exchange execution details, and in deposits, withdrawals, or ledgers for transfers and balance changes.
- Adjust the search: try a wider date range or another available filter, such as status, type, token, or asset.
- For a wallet lookup, use public information only: search with the wallet address or transaction hash, never the Secret Recovery Phrase.
Exact menu labels, export options, and limits can depend on the exchange product, account type, region, network, and current interface.
