Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBefore entering payment details, confirm the shop’s exact domain through a brand contact route you already trust. A copied logo, polished design, search result, social ad, or HTTPS lock does not prove that a website belongs to the jewellery brand. Check the seller independently, read the terms, and choose a payment method with a route to dispute the charge.
1. Confirm the exact domain independently
Read the full web address carefully, including spelling, extra words, and characters that could make a lookalike domain seem genuine. Then verify that address through a contact point you already trust, such as a previously verified brand account, an established brand document, or a phone number you know is real. Do not rely on contact details or links supplied only by the questionable site or message. The FTC recommends contacting a company through a website or phone number known to be real when a message may be fraudulent.
2. Reach the shop without following a suspicious link
If an email, text, or social media ad brought you to the store, open a fresh browser window and navigate to the brand independently. A sponsored search result or social ad can impersonate a real business and lead to counterfeit goods, a different product, or no delivery at all. Compare the address you reach independently with the one in the sales link; don’t assume an ad is genuine because it names a familiar brand. The FTC’s online-shopping guidance recommends researching sellers and products before buying.
3. Check the seller’s reputation and identity
Search the exact seller name and website address with terms such as “review,” “complaint,” and “scam.” Read more than one independent source rather than relying on testimonials or star ratings on the seller’s own site; reviews can be fake or manipulated. Look for a consistent seller identity and contact information, and consider whether the information matches what you find through trusted brand channels. Reviews are signals to weigh, not proof by themselves.
4. Examine the offer, shipping, and returns
A remarkably low price for an expensive brand-name piece is a warning sign: the item could be counterfeit or stolen. It is not, by itself, proof that the seller is fraudulent. Before paying, check the promised delivery timing, return and refund rules, return-shipping responsibility, and any fees. The FTC advises shoppers to review seller policies and be cautious about unusually low prices.

5. Understand what HTTPS does—and does not—tell you
HTTPS encrypts the connection between your browser and the website. It does not establish that the seller is legitimate or that the site is operated by the jewellery brand. Scam sites can use HTTPS too, so treat the lock or secure-address indicator as a connection-security signal, not an identity check. See the FTC’s explanation of online shopping safety.
6. Choose a payment method with a dispute path
When available, paying by credit card generally gives you a way to dispute a charge if something goes wrong. Do not proceed if the seller insists that you pay by gift card, wire transfer, payment app, or cryptocurrency; these methods can make it difficult to recover money. The FTC recommends paying by credit card when possible and warns about hard-to-reverse payment methods.

7. Save records in case the order goes wrong
Keep the seller’s name and address, item and order details, purchase date and amount, advertised shipping promise, return policy, receipts, emails, and payment records. If there is a problem, contact the seller first and then your payment provider to ask about dispute options. In the United States, you can also report suspected fraud to the FTC.

Check the jewellery claim separately from the website
A genuine brand website does not, by itself, settle whether a particular item’s material or gemstone description is accurate. Assess claims about precious-metal quality and purity, and whether gemstones, diamonds, or pearls are natural, manufactured, or treated, as a separate question. The FTC’s shopping guidance discusses jewellery terminology and gemstone disclosures; those details help you assess the item, not establish who operates the website.

Compare two seller sites using the same checks
If you are choosing between sites, apply the same criteria to each rather than relying on an overall impression. This is a practical checklist based on FTC shopping guidance, not an official scoring system.
- Is the exact domain confirmed through a trusted brand contact route?
- Are the seller’s name and contact details consistent with independent sources?
- Do multiple independent sources provide useful reputation signals?
- Is the price plausible for the item?
- Are shipping, return, and refund terms clear?
- Can you pay using a method with a dispute route?
The FTC guidance and reporting options above apply to U.S. consumers. Readers elsewhere can use the same independent-verification approach, but should check their own country’s payment-dispute rights and fraud-reporting channels.
