If your order costs more than the card’s available balance, you’ll need another payment method for the difference.
Where you can use a Fandango gift card
Fandango Cards purchased on or after February 1, 2021 can pay for movie tickets on Fandango.com or through participating Fandango apps. They cannot be redeemed in person or at a theater box office, so apply the card before you arrive at the theater. Fandango’s gift-card terms distinguish these cards from other products, including streaming and legacy cards; check the terms for a differently branded card rather than assuming it works for movie tickets.

How to pay with your card online
- On Fandango.com or in a participating Fandango app, choose a participating theater, movie, and showtime.
- Continue to checkout and select the gift-card payment option when prompted.
- Enter the card details and apply the card to the order.
- If the order total is greater than the card’s remaining balance, provide another payment method for the amount left.
Fandango’s terms establish online and participating-app use, but checkout control labels may vary. Look for the gift-card payment option rather than relying on a particular button name.
How to check your gift-card balance
Use the balance-check option linked from Fandango’s gift-card terms to see the amount available. Fandango describes the displayed balance as an estimate: it usually updates immediately after a purchase, but a delay is possible. If a payment is declined, confirm the card details and check the balance; a failed checkout does not by itself establish that insufficient funds were the cause.

What the card will—and will not—cover
If the card balance is lower than the order total, Fandango requires another payment method to cover the difference. Applicable customary charges, including a ticket convenience fee where applicable, may still be charged regardless of payment method. Do not assume the gift card will eliminate every checkout charge.
Expiration, activation, and protecting the card
Fandango says its gift cards do not expire and do not incur maintenance, dormancy, or service fees. Cards are not reloadable and are valid only if obtained from Fandango or an authorized third-party distributor. A card that was not activated is not valid.

Fandango’s terms cover several distinct products, including Fandango Cards, Fandango Stream Cards, older FandangoNOW Cards, Vudu-related cards, and MovieTickets.com cards. Their permitted uses differ; some are limited to streaming or another service. The February 1, 2021 cutoff also matters for Fandango Cards. Confirm the terms for the exact card you have before adding it to a movie-ticket order.
