1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo use a DeFi app on Stellar, choose a wallet that supports the app’s specific Soroban transactions, verify you have the genuine app, and review each transaction before signing. Start with an amount you can afford to lose. Stellar DeFi includes swaps, liquidity pools, lending, and borrowing, but each activity has different risks—and a wallet connection or security audit does not make a protocol safe.
What you can do with Stellar DeFi
Stellar’s smart-contract platform is called Soroban. DeFi apps use programmable contracts to offer financial activities involving Stellar assets. The ecosystem also depends on wallets, price oracles, and block explorers, so the risks are not limited to the app’s code.
| Activity | What it does | What to understand first |
|---|---|---|
| Swap | Exchanges one asset for another, often through an automated market maker (AMM). | Quoted output, fees, trade route, price impact, and the assets involved. |
| Provide liquidity | Supplies assets to a pool that supports trading; pool shares represent a claim on the pool under its rules. | Both pool assets, how shares work, and how the value of the position can change relative to simply holding the assets. Fees or incentives may be available, but are not guaranteed. |
| Lend or supply | Supplies an asset to a lending market, potentially in exchange for interest under that market’s rules. | Interest-rate mechanics, market terms, and the risks of the protocol and supplied asset. |
| Borrow | Borrows an asset, generally against collateral. | Collateral requirements, liquidation conditions, interest, and repayment terms. |
AMMs use liquidity pools and pricing rules to enable trades. Pool designs and lending parameters vary by app; a general description cannot establish the terms of any particular pool or market.
What you need before connecting a wallet
A compatible wallet
A wallet manages the keys used to access assets and authorize transactions. Stellar’s wallet directory lists Vesseo, Lobstr, and Ledger Live, but being listed does not establish support for every Soroban app or transaction type. Confirm compatibility for the exact action you intend to take. A wallet helps manage access credentials; it does not judge whether an app, contract, or investment is safe.

The genuine app and the right transaction
Find an app through its official project or an established ecosystem source, then check the domain carefully before connecting. There is no single canonical, current user-level directory of Stellar DeFi apps and verified URLs established here, so do not treat a search result, social post, or wallet prompt as proof that a site is genuine.
Before signing, identify the action, asset, amount, permissions, fees, and any collateral or pool terms shown in the wallet and app. A connection is not the same as signing a transaction, and signing does not automatically undo an action already submitted.

A risk budget
Only use money you can afford to lose. DeFi positions can be affected by code defects, market moves, thin liquidity, faulty price data, governance decisions, privileged access, and dependencies on bridges or off-chain services. A hardware wallet can help protect private keys, but it cannot prevent losses caused by those protocol or market risks.
A careful workflow for using a DeFi app
- Choose the activity. Decide whether you intend to swap, supply liquidity, lend, or borrow. These are not interchangeable: a swap executes a trade, while supplying to a pool or lending market creates an ongoing position with its own terms.
- Verify the app. Reach it through a project’s official source or a credible ecosystem source. Check the domain character by character, and look for the app’s documentation and risk disclosures.
- Check wallet compatibility. Confirm that your wallet supports the specific Soroban contract interaction required, not just Stellar assets or payments generally.
- Review the terms for your action. For a swap, compare quoted output, fees, route, and price impact. For a pool, inspect both assets and how pool shares and any incentives work. For lending or borrowing, check the interest-rate mechanics, collateral factor, liquidation threshold, oracle, and repayment requirements.
- Start small and inspect the signing request. Use an amount you can afford to lose. Confirm the action, token, amount, permissions, fees, and any position terms displayed before authorizing it. Do not sign a request you do not understand.
- Check what happened. Keep transaction records and use a block explorer to inspect submitted activity and its status. An explorer can help you verify on-chain activity; it cannot establish that the app or position is safe.
How to assess a protocol’s security
Stellar Development Foundation security guidance puts the limit plainly: “Audits are necessary but not sufficient.” An audit is a review of particular code at a particular time, not a guarantee about the deployed app, its economics, or future changes.
Rank #3
- Audit and deployment: Look for a report from a qualified third-party auditor. Check which code version was reviewed, whether production code still matches it, and whether findings were addressed.
- Disclosure and response: Look for a public vulnerability-disclosure policy, a bug-bounty program, and a readable risk page.
- Economic design: Consider whether the protocol documents stress modeling and reviews of its economic parameters. Ask how liquidity shortages, collateral concentration, or market stress could affect users.
- Oracles and dependencies: Find out how prices reach contracts and what other systems the app relies on. A faulty or manipulated oracle price can affect app behavior; bridges and off-chain services add dependencies beyond the contract itself.
- Control and governance: Understand whether administrators or governance participants can change important settings, and what privileged keys can do.
The Foundation also describes approximately 5% of total user-facing liabilities as a directional benchmark for a protocol-level first-loss resource. This is its suggestion, not an industry-wide standard, a user guarantee, or evidence that a particular app holds such reserves.

Wallet support, app domains, deployed contract addresses, supported assets, fees, rates, liquidity, and eligibility vary and can change. The available official material does not establish current yields, a named app’s contract addresses, or access rules for any particular location. Check those details directly with the app and relevant official sources before committing funds; do not infer them from a general description of Stellar DeFi.

Stellar’s wallet directory includes Ledger Live, and Foundation guidance discusses hardware-wallet practices. Compatibility for every device model and Soroban interaction is not established, so verify that the intended wallet and device support your planned action before relying on them.
