What was the Black Friday deal?
ExtremeTech’s November 26, 2024 article reported an Amazon price of $319.99, compared with a stated $439.99 price, and described the reduction as 27%. Read the original deal report. PCMag’s deal roundup on the same date also listed the Chromebook at $319.99 against $439.99. Those figures describe a historical offer, not a confirmed current price. See PCMag’s 2024 roundup.
The stated prices work out to a reduction of about 27.3%, which rounds to 27% to the nearest whole percentage point. That arithmetic explains the headline; it does not show that the same discount is available now.
Which CX34 configuration did the deal cover?
PCMag identified the deal model as an ASUS Chromebook Plus CX34 with an Intel Core i3 processor, 256GB of storage, and a 14-inch display. “CX34” is a family name, however, and does not establish that every listing with that name has the same components. Check the exact model number and specifications on a current product page before comparing prices.

Does “top-rated” mean it is still a top recommendation?
PCMag’s 2024 roundup described the CX34 as an Editors’ Choice and its Best Chromebook of 2023. Those are historical editorial judgments, not evidence of a current ranking. The roundup also praised its MIL-SPEC 810 durability and full port selection, and associated Chromebook Plus improvements with a faster processor and higher-resolution camera. These are claims in that coverage, not independent confirmation that every CX34 configuration includes the same features.

If you find the CX34 for sale, compare the actual configuration and terms rather than relying on the old headline:
