You can move money from Cash App to Chime by linking a Chime account or Chime debit card in Cash App, then withdrawing your Cash App balance to that destination. A standard withdrawal to a Chime account is generally free and takes 1–3 business days; an instant withdrawal to an eligible Chime debit card may arrive within minutes but can carry a Cash App fee.
What you need before you start
- A Cash App account with money available to withdraw.
- Your Chime account or Chime debit card details. To connect through Plaid, Chime says you need an activated physical Chime card.
- Access to both apps so you can confirm the destination, transfer availability, and any fee shown before approving.
Chime describes two ways to connect: select your Chime account through Plaid, or add your Chime debit card details. The transfer is initiated as a withdrawal from Cash App—not as a payment to a Chime username. See Chime’s instructions for using Chime with third-party payment apps.
How to transfer money from Cash App to Chime
- Open the linked-account settings in Cash App. Go to Profile > Account & settings > Linked bank accounts, select Link bank, and follow the prompts. Cash App says you may need to link a debit card first. The app’s published navigation is available in Cash App’s guide to sending and receiving money.
- Choose how to connect Chime. Select Chime through Plaid if that option appears, or enter your Chime debit card details. For the Plaid route, Chime requires an activated physical card.
- Start a withdrawal. In Cash App, tap Money > Withdraw, enter the amount, and select the Chime destination you linked.
- Choose the withdrawal speed. Select Standard for a linked-account withdrawal or Instant if Cash App offers it for your linked Chime debit card and the quoted fee is acceptable.
- Review and confirm. Check the amount, destination, expected timing, and any fee displayed in the app. Cash App says transfers can be limited or delayed, including for risk review, and its terms state that a transfer cannot be canceled once processing begins.
Standard or instant: which withdrawal should you choose?
| Option | Destination | Typical timing | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Linked account | 1–3 business days | Cash App describes standard withdrawal as free. |
| Instant | Eligible linked Chime debit card | Typically within minutes | Cash App may charge a variable fee; the app shows the specific fee before confirmation. |
These are U.S. service terms. Standard withdrawal timing is described by Chime and Cash App’s U.S. Terms of Service. Instant eligibility and the fee can vary, so rely on the option and quote shown for your transfer rather than assuming every account will have the same choices.
Fees, limits, and transfer problems
Fees
Chime lists no Chime fee for using Cash App. If an instant-withdrawal fee appears, it is a Cash App fee; Cash App says the amount is disclosed in the instant-transfer experience. Check that quote before confirming.

Chime says transfer limits are personalized based on account history and other risk factors. To check yours in Chime, go to Profile > Account details > View limits. Cash App may also restrict or delay a withdrawal for review. Read Chime’s third-party payment app guidance, Chime’s transfer-limit information, and Cash App’s U.S. terms for the applicable service details.
If linking or withdrawing fails
- Check that the account or card information is correct and that the physical Chime card is activated if you are trying the Plaid route.
- Look in both apps for eligibility, limit, or review messages; an option may not be available for every account or transfer.
- Before retrying, verify whether the earlier withdrawal is pending so you do not unintentionally submit another transfer.
Cash App’s terms also say its debit-card instant-withdrawal service is subject to a Mastercard debit-card limitation. If an instant option is unavailable, review the available destination and withdrawal choices displayed in Cash App.
