- Confirm that your Airtel prepaid number still has active plan validity.
- Open your phone’s default dialer.
- Dial
*567*3#and press the call button using the Airtel SIM. - Read the menu or confirmation prompt and follow the on-screen instructions for the 1 GB Data Loan.
- Wait for Airtel’s activation confirmation, then check your data balance.
Airtel’s published terms confirm the code and facility but do not promise one fixed menu sequence. The wording or options shown after dialing may therefore vary.

How to request the loan by SMS
After your data balance is exhausted, Airtel may send an interactive SMS from its official CLI 56321. If you receive that message, reply:

Wait for the confirmation before assuming that the data has been credited. This is an alternative route offered through Airtel’s message; it is not a general instruction to send “1” to arbitrary numbers.
Who is eligible?
According to Airtel’s current terms, the Data Loan is intended for:
- Airtel India prepaid customers;
- customers whose account has active validity; and
- customers in Airtel’s licensed service areas across India.
Postpaid customers should not expect this prepaid facility to work. Active data balance and active plan validity are also different things: having a working SIM or unused data does not necessarily mean the required account validity is active.
How long does the 1 GB last?
The loan is valid until midnight on the same day it is activated. It does not necessarily last 24 hours.
- Activation at 10 a.m. gives you the remainder of that day.
- Activation late at night may leave only a short usable period.
- Unused loan data does not carry over under the stated terms.
How is the Data Loan recovered?
Airtel states that the loan is recovered from the next eligible data-pack recharge. The listed eligible MRPs are:
₹22, ₹33, ₹77, ₹121, ₹149, ₹161, ₹181 and ₹361

If an earlier Data Loan has not been cleared through an eligible recharge, Airtel says you cannot take another Data Loan.
The published terms do not explain exactly how the recovery appears in the account or whether the entire benefit of a particular recharge is reduced. Do not assume a separate fee or a specific deduction amount unless Airtel’s confirmation screen or message clearly states it.
Do you need to recharge first?
No immediate recharge is required to request the emergency facility, provided the account meets Airtel’s eligibility conditions. However, you need a later eligible data-pack recharge to clear the outstanding loan, and active account validity is required when requesting it.
What to do if *567*3# does not work
Check these possible causes and remedies:
- Wrong SIM selected: On a dual-SIM phone, retry using the Airtel SIM.
- Expired validity: Confirm that your main prepaid plan is still valid.
- Earlier loan outstanding: Use one of the eligible data-pack MRPs listed above to clear it.
- Temporary network or system issue: Toggle airplane mode, restart the phone, and try again later.
- Missed interactive message: Check whether Airtel sent an SMS from
56321. - Account-specific restriction: Contact Airtel through the official app or verified customer-care channels if you appear eligible but cannot activate the facility.
Airtel’s terms do not guarantee instant activation for every account, even where the general eligibility description appears to apply.

If the loan was activated but the data is missing
- Wait for Airtel’s activation confirmation to complete.
- Switch mobile data off and on.
- Restart the phone.
- Check the Airtel balance again.
- Confirm that mobile data is enabled for the Airtel SIM.
The terms do not specify a guaranteed activation time, so a delayed balance display does not necessarily mean the request failed.
When a normal recharge is better

- Airtel Finance loans: separate financial products unrelated to borrowing mobile data.
Fraud warning
The official process uses Airtel’s USSD route or an interactive Airtel SMS from 56321. Do not:
- share an OTP, UPI PIN, Aadhaar details, card information, or banking credentials;
- install an app from an unknown link;
- pay a processing fee for the 1 GB Data Loan; or
- follow instructions from an unverified sender claiming to offer Airtel data credit.
